2、standard outlines the requirements of single rod, double acting, cushioned air cylinders with magnetic piston, conforming to Ford Standard U-NC101 and U-NC103. Amlication. These air cylinders shall be used on all industrial equipment and fixtures. Requirements. Dimensions and Mountings. The air cyli
3、nder dimensions shall conform to the requirements of Ford Standard U-NClOl and U-NC103 Mountings-General . Cylinders to Ford Standard U-NC101 shall be capable of accepting foot, front flange, rear flange and rear clevis range of mountings and these shall be detachable without dismantling the basic c
4、ylinder, (see Ford Standard U-NCOZO). Centre Trunnion Mounting. The centre trunnion mounting version to Ford Standard U-NC103 shall have the position of the trunnion obtained by either short tie rods, tie rods and spacers or by compressive clamping on the body of the cylinder in such a manner that t
5、he bore cannot be distorted. Grub screw position retention on the main tie rod is not acceptable, (for mounting supports see Ford Standard U-NCOZO.) Construction. The cylinder shall be manufactured with a non ferrous barrel and a magnetic piston suitable or position sensing using magnetic inductive
6、switches. Cushioning. Cushioning of an adequate design shall be afforded at both ends of the cylinder. 7、 3.8 3.8.1 3.9 Cushioning adjustment screws shall be either slot or socket type, easy to turn and fully recessed. It must not be possible under normal circumstances to remove the screws whilst adjusting the cushion under pressure. The action of the cushion adjusting screws shall be screw in for incr
8、ease of cushioning and out for decrease of cushioning. Sealing. The static sealing shall comply wit& -.- _ & -.- -BS 4518. Protection. Only when specified shall the cylinder bore and piston be corrosion protected. Assembly The cylinder shall be easily dismantled, removable rod end seal and bearing a
9、ssembly is preferred. The cylinder shall be supplied with hexagon piston rod nut to BS 4190 or DIN 936. The piston rod shall have spanner flats to IS0 272. Operation. The cylinder shall be capable of functioning on clean lubricated or unlubricated air. The cylinder shall be capable of working at a m
10、inimum pressure of 1 bar and a maximum pressure of 10 bar. Identification. The following information shall be visible and permanently fixed to the cylinder: Manufacturers Narne Pressure Range in bar Piston Diameter and stroke Performance Test. Type or Model Symbols according to IS0 1219 Cushion data
11、. A cylinder of piston diameter 63mm and stroke 160m using cleap unlubricated compressed air at a pressure of 6 bar shall be operated at a cycle frequency of 35 cycles per minute with load and 80 cycles per minute without load (hammering test) . The total duration of the test to be 2,5 mega cycles -

The load condition shall be a 8Okg mass lifted vertically via a geared 1:l ratio mechanism for the full length of the
13、cylinder stroke each cycle. To control the return stroke a restrictor valve shall be placed in the exhaust line. The cushioning effect shall be employed on both forward and return strokes or this load condition test. For the remaining 2 mega cycles the cylinder shall be mounted in the vertical posit
14、ion and the piston rod, with suitable thread protective cap, strike a rigidly fixed steel plate placed 1- before the end of the cylinder stroke. No guidance external to the cylinder shall be afforded to the piston rod, and the cushioning effect on the forward stroke rendered ineffective (hammering t
15、est). On completion of the tests the cylinder when stripped down shall exhibit no undue signs of vear or fatigue. 4 ADDrOVal of New Sumliers. Components submitted by new suppliers to this standard must be directed via the Manufacturing Standards Committee Working Group to obtain shop trial approval.
16、 The performance tests as in 3.9 may be conducted at Ford locations or at the Engineers discretion at the suppliers works, using the test rig as indicated in appendix A and B. For test at Ford locations the suppliers representative shall be present at stripdown on completion of test. For test at sup
17、pliers works. facilities shall be made available to the Ford Engineer to inspect the test rig at start of test and to dismantle and inspect the cylinder on completion of test. Confirmation in writing that the specific cylinder dismantled had completed the test would be required. Recommendations for
18、additions to the Manufacturing Standards Approved Source List shall be made to the Manufacturing Standards Office after being accepted on referral system.
