2、fines the bond requirements for flexible polyurethanefoam tri m, gaskets, seals and sound deadening materials with a polyesterfilm backing adhesive, to plastic substrates.2. APPLICATIONTh is specification was released originally for applications requiringhig her values of adhesion. The pressure sens

3、itive adhesive is onlyint ended as an assembly aid to be used only where the foam material ismechanically retained in final assembly.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describe

4、dtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared an

5、d/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that co

6、rrespond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested

8、63-A, or equivalent.Adhere 150 mm length of a 12.7 mm wide specimen to the test panelusing t he rubber covered steel roller. Pass the roller, withoutapplication of additional pressure, over the gasket lengthwise oncein each direction at the rate of approximately 5 0 mm/s. Allow 20 +/-5 minu tes befo

9、re resuming test. Apply masking tape to the topsurface of the foam to reduce the friction between the foam surfaceswhen the specimens are bent 180 deg with respect to themselves.3.4.1 As Received 0.88 N/mm width3.4.2 Heat Aged 0.88 N/mm widthTest Method: Condition the test panel with the specimenadh

10、ered for 7 days in a mechanical convection oven at 88 +/-2 C. A llow 4 h recovery at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 %relative humidity before determining peel strength.3.4.3 Humidity Aged 0.88 N/mm widthTest Method: Condition the test panel with the specimenadhered for 7 days at 95 - 100 % relative humidi

11、ty and 37 +/-1 C. A llow 4 h recovery at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 %relative humidity before determining peel strength.3.5 PEEL STRENGTH, Foam to Plastic Membrane3.5.1 As Received Foam tearTest Method: Same as para 3.4.1, except double back eachspecimen on itself, slit through the membrane wi thout cu

12、ttingthe foam , and peel back approximately 25 mm. Test at a jawseparation rate of 50 mm/minute.3.6 CREEP ADHESION, max 6.4 mmTest Method: Prepare sample as in 3.4 except position the panelhorizon tally with the adhered sample facing down. Peel the sampleback and han g a 200 g weight so that the sam

13、ple is bent at a 90degree angle. Mark the separation point, wait one hour and mark theseparation point again. 14、Specific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respectto these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineeringdrawing.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPON

15、SIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under t

16、his specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactiv

17、ity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL

18、OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponre

19、quest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not

20、nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
