SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are metallic coatings which consist primarily of metallic aluminum dust, a modified epoxy resin vehicle and additives to prevent settling and chemical reaction during storage. 2. APPLICATION WSA-M21P26-A: This specification wa

4、s released originally as an aluminum rich secondary coating over ESA-M1A270-A (zinc/aluminum coated steel) to provide additional protection for fuel lines, brake lines, power steering lines and transmission oil cooling lines. WSA-M21P26-A2: This specification was released originally as an aluminum r

5、ich secondary coating over zinc to provide additional corrosion protection for clips and tube nuts used to secure fuel, brake, power steering and transmission oil cooler lines. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to th

6、e Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Non-Volatile Content, by weight, min 45.0% (FLTM BI 102-01) 3.4.2 Total Metals (Aluminum plus Additives) 19.0% Contents, by weight, min (ASTM D 2371) 3.4.3 Weight per Volume, min at 23 +/- 2 C 1

8、assing, min 16 h no change (FLTM BI 102-03) 3.4.6.2 Storage Stability The material shall not gel, settle hard or have a viscosity change from the original in excess of 5 s when left undisturbed for 60 d at 23 +/- 2 C. Conformance to this requirement is mandatory for all new materials submitted for e

9、ngineering approval and for all production material supplied to the Company and subsequently stored under the above conditions. This is not required as a routine control test. 3.5 SUBSTRATE 3.5.1 WSA-M21P26-A The substrate shall be low carbon steel butt welded or double wall brazed construction whic

10、h conforms to one of the following specifications: SAE J526 Welded Low Carbon Steel Tubing SAE J527 Brazed Double Wall LC Steel Tubing WSA-M1A308-A1/A2 Tubing The above tubing shall be coated with zinc/aluminum alloy per ESA-M1A270-A. If necessary, a hexavalent chromium free conversion coating may b

11、e used over the zinc/aluminum alloy to enhance the adhesion and corrosion resistance properties of the tube. The substrate and all coatings must be called out on the Engineering Drawing. 3.5.2 WSA-M21P26-A2 The substrate shall be low carbon steel, zinc plated per WSD-M1P85-A2 and coated with a hexav

12、alent chromium free coating (example: trivalent chromium conversion coating). Other substrates may be used, but performance may vary and must be determined on a case by case basis. The substrate and all coatings must be called out on the Engineering Drawing. 3.6 FILM PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Film Type The f

13、ilm shall consist of single aluminum rich epoxy. 3.6.2 Film Cure Must be sufficiently cured at the time of packing to withstand normal handling and shipping without marring. 14、C Page 3 of 4 3.6.3 Appearance The coating shall be uniform in color and free from discontinuities such as flow lines, pin holes, craters or abnormal roughness. The coating shall be silver in color unless otherwise specified on Engineering Drawing. 3.6.4 Adhesion Grade 1 or better (FLTM BI 106-01) 3

15、.6.5 Film Thickness (FLTM BI 117-01 or an approved equivalent) WSA-M21P26-A, min 6 micrometer WSA-M21P26-A2, max 12.5 micrometer 3.7 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.7.1 Salt Spray Evaluation (WSA-M21P26-A) After salt spray per ASTM B 117 for 3000 h the test samples shall show no more than 0.1% red rust per

16、ASTM D 610 photographic standard No. 8. Test samples shall consist of two types, straight and bent tubes. Straight tubes shall be approximately 300 mm long. Bent tubes shall be bent in a U-shape with a radius equal to 3 times the diameter of the tube. Gravelometer/Salt Spray 1000 h - no red rust eve

17、n at gravel impacted surfaces. Test Method: Perform gravelometer testing per SAE J400 and salt spray per ASTM B 117. Tubing shall show no red rust after 1000 h of exposure time even at gravel impacted areas. 3.7.2 Salt Spray Evaluation (WSA-M21P26-A2) After salt spray per ASTM B 117 for 1000 h the t

18、est samples shall show no more than 0.1% red rust per ASTM D 610 photographic standard No. 8. Test samples shall consist of straight tubes with clips and tube nuts attached as is done in production. Gravelometer/Salt Spray 500 h - no red rust at gravel impacted surfaces. Test Method: Perform gravelo

19、meter testing per SAE J400 and salt spray per ASTM B 117. Clips and tube nuts shall show no red rust after 1000 h of exposure time at gravel impacted areas. 20、.3 Water Resistance Properties 240 h (FLTM BI 104-01) No rust or blistering. 3.7.4 Gasoline Resistance Shall not blister or show any signs of softening or dulling when subjected to immersion in current factory fill gasoline for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.7.5 Hot Oil Resistance Shall not blister or show a

21、ny signs of softening or dulling when subjected to immersion (SAE 10W30) engine oil for 24 h at 66 +/- 3 C. 3.7.6 Ethylene Glycol Resistance Shall not blister or show any signs of softening or dulling when subjected to immersion in a 50% solution of water and Long Life Coolant Concentrate, such as E

22、SE-M97B43-A, for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.7.7 Brake Fluid Resistance Shall not blister or show any signs of softening or dulling when subjected to immersion in currently approved brake fluid for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.7.8 Power Steering/Transmission Fluid Shall not blister or show any signs of softening or dulling when subjected to immersion in current factory fill power steering and transmission fluid for 24 h at 66 +/- 3 C.
