2、vent release typeadhesive, made from a nitrile rubber base combined with phenolic resins.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used to bond fabricbacked polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to metal surfaces, such as a shifter bootcover to a metal base.Note: This material was ini

3、tially approved for use on BLACK backed fabricpolyvinyl chloride substrates. The suitability of its use for COLOREDsubstrates must be verified on an individual color basis.Compliance with the performance requirements of this specification does notguarantee the adhesive will function for all potentia

4、l applications on avehicle. The specific design condition should be evaluated by a planttrial or laboratory simulation prior to release of the material.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control

5、 Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may con

6、duct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconstitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermog

18、iners at temperatures of10 - 27 C, away from al l sources of heat or sunlight. Storage timesgreater t han 3 months shall be avoided. At all times protectmaterial from freezing.3.17 FUNCTIONAL APPROVALMaterials being evaluated for approval to this s pecification shall besubject ed to a production tri

19、al. Functional trial results must beapproved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering.Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior tomaterial approval and release.3.18 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespec

20、ified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respectto these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineeringdrawing.3.19 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent i

21、nal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials abili

22、ty to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be subm

23、itted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. 24、ATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponreques

25、t, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nomi

26、nal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material

27、will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.5.
