SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a water emulsion, latex base adhesive. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for
3、 adhering convertible top listing to convertible top, deck and quarter assemblies, edge bond cover trim material for the door pull strap and tack bond leather to foam. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Company
4、s Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 VISCOSITY at 23 +/- 2 C (FLTM BU 104-01 except use a Brookfield Viscometer) 3.4.1 As received 1000 - 4000 mPa.s 3.4.2 Aged, max 8000 mPa.s 3.5 SOLIDS, min 58 % (ASTM D 2834, except 100 +/- 2 C in mechanical convection oven, 3 h,
5、save sample for next test) 3.6 ASH, max 5 % Place a crucible containing the solids residue in a cool muffle furnace. Slowly heat to and maintain at 760 +/- 30 C for 1 h. Cool in a desiccator, weigh, and calculate the ash based on the solids weight. 3.7 WEIGHT PER VOLUME 0.899 - 0.947 kg/L (ASTM D 81
6、6) The weight tolerance for any one supplier shall be +/- 0.024 kg/L based on the recorded weight of his original approved production sample. Fog requirement is for the adhesive system only, not for composites. 3.9 ADHESION REQUIREMENTS FOR CONVERTIBLE TOP & DOOR PULL STRAP ASSEMBLIES 3.9.1 Normal Adhesion (double coat), min . As received 0.65 N/mm width . After 15 minutes

After 1 h cure time 0.76 N/mm width 3.9.2 Aged Adhesion, min . 1st set after 15 minutes at 23 +/- 2 C 1.09 N/mm width . 2nd set after 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C 1.09 N/mm width . 3rd set after 16 h at 23 +/- 2 C, then condition in a mechanical oven for 14 days at 70 +/- 1 C, cool
9、23 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Test Method: Brush apply the adhesive to the underside of the convertible top material and also to the cotton duck listing reinforcement material over an area 25 x 200 mm. Allow 1 minute “open time“ and combine the two bonding surfaces. Immediately roll once in one direction only
10、 with a 0.9 kg roller. Following each of the conditioning periods, determine the adhesion by exerting a 180 peel of the specimens for a 150 mm length. Mount 22 N maximum load spring scale attachment. Mount the sample in a tensile tester and measure the adhesion strength with a 22 N maximum load spri
11、ng scale attachment and pull at the rate of 300 mm/minute. The listing reinforcement is bonded to the base material. After bonding, condition the specimens for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C, then conduct the test. P

18、e from foreign materials and properties detrimental to normal production use. 3.16 DILUTION When diluted one to one with water, shall not separate after standing 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.17 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for initial approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production trial to demonstrate processability as well as functional performance. Functional trial results should be available to Design and Material Engineering prior to material approval and release.
