2、is a soft polyurethane foamnon-resin saturated that resists water penetration. This material can havea pressure sensitive adhesive applied to one surface.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was originally released as a gap hider between the sheetmetal and front parking lamp. This material can be used i

3、n exterior sealingand gasketing applications where resistance to moisture penetration isrequired. The material can also be used in applications where minimal forceto compress is desired.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-

4、101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Mot

5、or Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconstitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples s

6、hall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned ina controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not

9、crackingTest Method: Condition a sample 300 mm x width up to 25 mm xthickness up to 25 mm at - 29 +/- 1 C for 16 h. Bend sample180 degrees around a te mperature conditioned 25 mm diameter mandrel.3.10 WATER ABSORPTION, max 5 %Te st Method: A 25 x 25 x 150 mm specimen will be weighed to theneare st 0

10、.01 gram. Density of the specimen will be calculated persection 3.4. Place the full specimen between two flat compressionplates and compress the specimen to 12.5 mm. Th e compressed specimenshould be dip ped into the water tank at an angle so that no air istrapped on the underside of the compression

11、 plates.Submerge the top of the specimen horizontally under 100 mm of waterin a 300 x 300 x 250 mm tank for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C.Remove the specimen fro m the tank and tilt vertically for 15 secondsto remove surface water (do not shake or tap). Remove the compression plates and allow the specimen to l

13、EAL, min No leak after 60minutesTest Method: Wipe two 6 mm thick sheets of acryl ic clean with mineralspirits using a clean c otton cloth. Shape a 12 x 12 x 300 mm sampleinto a “U“ configuratio n between the surfaces of the acrylic sheets.The sheets should be sp aced and clamped so that the material

14、 betweenthem is compressed 25 % of the original thickness. Pour water intothe “U “ so that the deepest point measures 100 mm. Examine theassembly after the specified period of time.3.12 PAINT STAINING No migration(FLTM BO 115-01) stainTest Method: Securely attach a 150 mm sample of the material to a

15、 75x 225 mm steel panel co ated with currently released enamels. Exposethe assembly for 48 h in the fluorescent sunlamp cabinet. Examine forany evidence of stainin g beyond the boundaries of the test specimen.3.13 PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE As specified onengineering drawingCertain releases of this

16、 material may require the application of apress ure sensitive adhesive to aid in production assembly. Thisadh esive shall have a minimum peel strength of 132 N/m of widthmini mum (as received) when applied to currently released enameledsteel and ABS plastic and tested per ASTM D 1000.3.14 FUNCTIONAL

17、 APPROVALMaterials being evaluated for approval to this s pecification shall besubject ed to a production trial. Functional trial results must beapproved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering.Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior tomaterial approval and r

18、elease.3.15 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the engineering drawing, engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respect tothese properties shall be designated on the Engineering

20、position,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering

21、activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this documen

22、t. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Mat

23、erials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of

24、their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation.

25、 In addition to meeting therequi rements of this specification, the materials will be assessed forsuita bility for intended applications as part of the approval process.Upo n approval, the material will be added to the Engineering MaterialApproved Source List.5.
