SCOPEThe material defined by this specification is a clear and/or tintedwaterba sed primer for polypropylene a

2、nd polypropylene blends. Thisspecification is not intended t o limit the primer to one which may be usedon all t ypes of polypropylene in all applications, but defines therequirements of a primer which may be restricted to spec ific substrates andspecific applications.2. APPLICATIONThis specificatio

3、n was released originally for material used as acompl iance primer of selected interior polypropylene parts immediatelyprior to color coating. This primer shall meet all volatile organiccompound requirements in accordance with Michigan DNR Rule 632.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs mu

4、st conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously redu

5、ced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shal

6、l be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina cont

7、rol led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSB-M64J37-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 4 3.4 COMPOSITION3.4.1 VehicleWaterbased emulsion lacquer with min

8、or amounts of additivesan d surfactants to provide good pigment dispersion and/orsubstrate adhesion.3.4.2 PigmentsThe pigment blend or ti nt, if used, shall provide reasonabledetection of primer presence on freshly primed parts.3.4.3 VolatileThe proportion of solvents in the paint shall be soformula

9、ted that the film will level out satisfactorilywi thout sagging, popping, or roughness after baking at thespecified thickness.The lacquer shall contain no benzene, chlorinated orcarcinogenic solvents.3.4.4 Specific CompositionThe supplier will furnish such data upon request.3.5 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.

10、5.1 Volatile Organic Compounds Shall not exceed 0.60 kg/LAllow able weight at application viscosity (U.S. EPA Method24, minus water)3.5.2 Viscosity, Application(FLTM BI 111-01)Shall be established by the supplier on the initial approvedproduction batch. Tolerance shall be +/- 5 seconds.3.5.3 pH (at

11、application viscosity) Tolerance shall be +/- 0.25Shall be established by the supplier on the initial approvedproduction batch.3.5.4 Stability 6 months at 23 +/- 2 CShall not liver or jell upon standing and must be free fromsettli ng which is not dispersed by normal agitation. Theviscosity of the ma

13、est specimens shall be free of mold release agents,finger prints, oils, dirt and any other detrimental surfacecontamination.3.6.3 Baking CycleShall be established by the supplier on the initial approvedproduction batch.3.7 APPEARANCE3.7.1 GeneralThe primer shall exhibit no craters, pinholes, solvent

14、popping, seediness, abnormal roughness, or excessive flow.3.8 FILM PROPERTIES (Primed Panels)All film properties are based on the proper preparation per para 3.6and after 72 hour (23 +/- 2 C) post cure.3.8.1 Film Thickness Requirements 5 - 10 micrometre(FLTM BI 112-01)3.8.2 Adhesion Grade 0(FLTM BI

15、106-01, Method B)3.8.3 Water Immersion(FLTM BI 104-01)Scribe “X“ through film to substrate immediately afterremoval from water for adhesion test.No blistering, dulling or color change. No removal of paintbeyond 1.6 mm from any scribe line with 3M #898-2 tape.3.8.4 Heat Aging, minShall show no eviden

17、t he preparation of the topcoat as specified bythe appropriate topcoat specification.3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the proper

18、ties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Eng

19、ineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by thi

20、s document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtai

21、n an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test

22、faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
