2、 for useas a sealer to minimize plastic molding imperfections.2. APPLICATIONThis material, specifically developed for use with soft touch paint,ESB-M1 5J6-A, is a primer for use on ABS, polycarbonate, ABS/polycarbonateblends and glass filled polycarbonate. This material is intended for weton wet app

3、lication with soft touch paint.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analy

4、ze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms

5、established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST COND

6、ITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.3.4 COMPOSITION3.4.1 Vehicle : The clear coating t

8、hout telegraphing of molding defects,sagging, popping, or ro ughness after curing at the specifiedfilm thickness.3.4.3 Sp ecific Composition: The supplier will furnish such dataupon request.3.5 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.5.1 Volatile Organic Compounds: Allowable TBDWeight at Application Viscosity(ASTM D 2

9、369, Procedure B)3.5.2 Viscosity: Application +/- 5 s(FLTM BI 111-01)Shall be established by the supplier on the initial approvedproduction batch.3.5.3 Stability(6 months at 23 +/- 2 C)Shall not liver or jell upon standing and must be free fromsettli ng which is not dispersed by normal agitation. Th

10、eviscosity of the material shall not increase or decrease morethan 10 s.3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.6.1 SubstrateUnless otherwise specified, thermoplastic or thermosettingplastic materials with 2.5 mm thickness shall be used.All substrate/primer/paint combinations are approvedseparately. Complet

11、e all testing on ungrained plaques.3.6.2 Substrate PreparationAll test specimens shall be free of mold release agents,finge rprints, oils, dirt and any other detrimental surfacecontamination.3.6.3 Primer PreparationFilm thickness range shall be TBD3.6.4 Primer Color ClearENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFI

Flash time affectsgloss, color and adhesion property.Any modifications of the flash/temperature requirementsestab lished on the initial productio

13、n sample require priorapproval.3.6.5 Baking TemperatureRecommended minimum bake cycle of 30 minutes at 71 C +/- 2 C.The bake temperature shall not exceed 90 C.3.7 FILM PROPERTIESPrimer with topcoat must meet all requirements of ESB-M15J6-A, SoftTouch Paint specification.3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYA

14、ll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this speci

15、fication, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test

16、 data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.ENGINEERING MATERIAL

17、SPECIFICATIONWSB-M6J173-AWP 3948-b Page 4 of 4 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Pu

18、rchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with al

19、l the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
