2、when determining hardness. An average of at least five valid impressions shall be determined. A valid impression is considered as one which is a regular non distorted format, thereby excluding misshapen indentations which inevitably arise from testing porous heterogeneous materials. The coating hard

4、 a uniformly grey appearance exhibiting fine random porosity with no breaks, oxide films, smearing, cracks or lifting. Surface pluckout with diameters up to 0.3 mm max is permissible (pluckout may be defined as localized exfoliation of particles which become unsupported and are adhesively extracted

For piston ring applications, flaking (chipping) is permissible along the side face edges of overlaid rings, and at the peripheral gap edges of both overlaid and inlaid rings, to the following extent: Circumferential direction 0.5 mm max Axial d
6、irection 0.4 mm max 3.8 ADHESION The cohesion of molybdenum particles and the adhesion of coating to the base metal shall be determined by expansion test. For piston ring applications, adhesion quality shall be judged on the appearance change before and after expansion test. Rings shall be visually

No change in visual features previously mentioned will demonstrate adequate adhesion f
