SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are cast stainless steels. The A1 grade is a ferritic stainless steel, while the

3、 A2 grade is an austenitic stainless steel. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for exhaust manifold applications. The A1 grade is suitable for service temperatures up to 870 C, and the A2 grade for service temperatures up to 980 C. Manifolds made to the A1 grade may be heat

4、 treated, if required, to attain thermalstability and required microstructural and mechanical properties. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111

8、 microstructural, machinability, hardenability and strength requirements. 3.3 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES Tensile, compressive, and shear properties are to be measured on separately cast test bars. Test bar diameters and solidification rates should be such that the microstructure and properties are commen

9、surate with the manifold as supplied to the manufacturer. 12、of 4 Copyright 2003, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.4 MICROSTRUCTURE 3.4.1 As-Cast Microstructure A1: The microstructure shall consist of 90 % minimum chromium rich ferrite distributed uniformly throughout the component. A2: The micros structure shall consist of an austenitic matrix with 7 % maxim

13、um carbides finely distributed. Carbides shall not form a continuous network. 3.4.2 Heat Treated Microstructure (A1 only) The heat treated microstructure shall consist of a ferritic matrix stabilized at 790 C and enhanced by Llaves phase hardening. 3.5 CLEANLINESS, CASTING QUALITY (ASTM E 446) Finis

14、hed component shall be free of loose sand, oxide and scale. No inclusions are permitted in the component which are over 30 micrometers in size. The exact location and quantities of allowable defects in the different areas of the castings will need to be determined between supplier and purchaser. Cas

15、ting porosity shall be outlined per ASTM E 446. Shrinkage is not permitted in critical areas of the castings, per agreement between supplier and purchaser. 5.
