SCOPEThe ma terial defined by this specification is a type 11 polyamide (nylon)molding comp

2、ound.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used in bearingsin the alternator.NOTIC E: This material absorbs and retains moisture. Part design andtoleran ces must accommodate changes in part dimensions and physicalpro perties due to moisture absorption or loss in the s

3、ervice/assemblyenvironment.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze p

4、rocess/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and ther mogram esta

5、blished for initial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITION

6、SAll test values indicat ed herein are based on material and specimenswith moisture content not exceeding 0.2 % (test according to ISO R960, Method B/ASTM D 789).All test materials imme diately after processing have to be sealed incontain ers that are impermeable to water vapor. If the moistureconte

7、nt exceeds 0.2 %, condition the material for a minimum of 16 hat 40 - 50 C at a reduced pressure below 133 kPa.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSF-M4D613-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 6 Conduct tests in a cont rolled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity. I ndividual specimens shall not

8、be removed fromclosed containers until immediately before testing.3.4 MOLDING COMPOUND3.4.1 Viscosity Number 165(ISO 307, sulfuric acid solvent)3.4.2 Melting Point, min 180 C(ISO 1218, Method B/ASTM D 789)3.5 MOLDED TEST SPECIMEN3.5.1 Preparation of Test SpecimensUnless otherwise specif ied all test

9、s shall be carried out oninjection molded one-end gated test specimens.The following dimensions are required:A. 150 min x 10 x 4.0 +/- 0.2 mm (Tensile Bar, ISO 3167)B. 120 x 10 x 4.0 +/- 0.2 mmSpeci mens with shorter dimensions shall be cut from thecenter portion of the test specimen A and/or B. The

No annea ling allowed.3.5.2 Density 1.07 - 1.11 g/cm3(ISO 1183, Method A/ASTM D 792, Method A1)3.5.3 Tensile Strength at Max Load, min 40.7 MPa(ISO R 527/ASTM D 638M, 150 min x 10 x 4.0+/- 0.2 mm specimen, 50 mm/min test speed)3.5.3.1 Elongation at B

19、on which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir emen

20、ts, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restri

21、ctions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATER

22、IALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, t

23、he Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Mate

24、rial Approved Source List.5.
