、, platinumcatalyzed, hydrosilation curing, dimethyl siloxane gel.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as adielectric potting gel for use in potting hybrid ignition modules.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford
、Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/
、OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated mate
、rial laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50
、 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSF-M99G165-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 4 3.4 COMPOSITIONThe dielectric gel shal l consist primarily of linear, vinyl terminalpo lydimethylsilox
、ane polymer and a methyl hydrogen functionalpolysi loxane crosslinker. The vinyl functional polymer will bepresent in stoichiometric excess compared to the Si-H in the methylhydrogen functional crosslinker. A catalyst con sisting of a platinumgroup m etal/inhibitor complex is used to provide the des

、at the rate of 4.0 C per minute until itattains 110 C.(3) Sample is held at 110 C until a cure exotherm is observed. Thecure time is recorded as elapse d time from beginning of ramp-upuntil the onset of the cure exotherm is observed.3.9 ACCELERATED SHELF LIFE, min 3 daysSample s are maintained at a

GENERAL INFORMATIONTh e information below is provided for clarification and assistance inmeeting the requirements of this specification.5.1 STORAGEStorag e temperature should be maintained at 35 C or less in order toattain 3 month shelf life. R
、ef rigerated transport and storage shouldbe employed if maintenance of this maximum temperature cannototherwise be assured.5.2 CURE INHIBITIONThe ma terials approved to this specification are susceptible to cureinhibi tion resulting from contact with certain types of chemicalco mpounds (amines, sulf
、ur containing compounds, tin containing andother organometallics). Functi onal testing of these materials in theproposed process is required to assure that inhibition d oes not occur.5.3 SURFACE APPEARANCEUnde r certain curing conditions, the surface of the gel may appearslig htly wrinkles or textured compared to similar plural componentgels.
