2、5 TAPE, PERFORMANCE, PRESSURE SENSITIVE WSK-M11P49-A ADHESIVE, TWO SIDED, EXTERIOR, BODY SIDE MOLDING NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines performance requirements of adhesive foam tapes used for exterior automotive applications. The tapes have two sides with two side pr
3、essure sensitive adhesive and are protected by either release paper or polymer liner. The tapes may be used in combination with a suitable primer which would be specified separately on the Engineering drawing. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally to define adhesion performance r
4、equirements for automotive body side molding applications. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/source approval. Appropriate statistic
5、al tools must be used to analyze process/product data so that variation in the final product is continuously reduced. 3.2 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for
6、not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 3.3. PREPARATION OF TEST SPECIMENS Test Specimens shall be prepared from production body side molding parts and painted steel panels, prepared according to FLTM BI 103-02, method B/2, using current a
7、pproved production paint materials. The surfaces to be bonded shall be cleaned with Isopropanol/water (1:1) and dry wiped prior to applying the tape. 8、 5 Test Specimens shall be aged for 72 h at room temperature prior to testing unless otherwise specified. Usage of a primer shall be noted in the Initial Sample Report. 3.4 AGING CONDITIONS Expose Test Specimens per 3.3 to each of the following conditions before testing per para 3.5. 3.4.1 Humidity
9、Aging 14 d at 38 +/- 2 C, 98 +/- 2 % RH 3.4.2 Heat Aging 14 d at 90 C +/- 2 C; Reconditioning: 1 h at 23 C and 50 +/- 5 % RH 3.4.3 Paint Repair Oven 30 minutes at 120 C +/- 2 C; Reconditioning: 1 h at 23 C and 50 +/- 5 % RH 3.4.4 Environmental Cycling (FLTM BQ 104-07, Procedure 5) 3.4.5 Immersion: W
10、ax/Dewaxing Fluid Use current production waxing and dewaxing compounds as follows: Immerse 1 minute in protective wax compound and condition for 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C. Remove wax coating by immersing 1 h 60 +/- 2 C into dewaxing compound. Allow to cool down to room temperature. 3.4.6 Immersion: Fuel C
11、(ISO 1817, liquid 4, 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C) 3.4.7 Accelerated Weathering 2000 h (SAE J1960) 3.4.8 Florida Exposure 2 years (FLTM BI 160-01, 5 deg south, direct weathering) This applies to Initial Approval only. Initial approvals will be based on accelerated weathering results, pending Florida results fo
12、r final approval. Note: In case of differences between the results of Florida exposure and accelerated weathering, the Florida results shall take precedence. 13、all be performed within 5 minutes after end of the exposure (except 3.4.8). Report type of failure (cohesive/adhesive failure as well as substrate failure) in the Initial Sample Report. The figures required below are only relevant if adhesion of tape to substrate is greater than the internal strengt
14、h of the substrate material. Influence of substrate material to test results, e.g. plasticizer migration, shall not be reason for rejection of adhesive tape, if the tape meets all specification requirements on an inert substrate. These results must be confirmed in the initial sample report of the ta

20、with the tape applied shall be stored for 3 months at temperatures between 5 and 32 C as well as for 3 weeks at 70 C. After the storage, the tape shall meet all requirements of this specification. 3.10 LINER REMOVAL, max 6.0 N/cm ASTM D 1000, except apply the unlined adhesive side of the tape to a c
21、lean metal panel with light finger contact and no added roller weight. Measure the force required to peel the liner from the tape. 3.11 INITIAL ADHESION The initial adhesion of the adhesive tape immediately after bonding shall be sufficient that the mounted part can withstand normal handling without
22、 damage. 3.12 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. 23、s, composition, construction, color, processing or labelling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engi
24、neering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford is applicable to the materials addres
25、sed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering document for the application. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS This specification is intended to define the performance and/or
26、properties of finished parts or systems of combined materials. An Engineering Material Approved Source listing is not applicable for this specification. Product Engineering materials referenced in this document and/or the affected engineering drawing, which require prior Engineering approval, are sh
27、own in the Engineering Material Approved Source List under the specification cited. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MOUNTING . Only apply tape to absolutely clean and
28、dry surface. . Mating surface should be matched (contoured or parallel) to ensure 100 % contact of the bond area. . Once tape is applied to part and has been bonded and for any reason removed, it shall not be reused. . If the adhesive surface of the tape becomes soiled, the tape-backed part shall not be used unless tape is replaced. . The adhesive side of the tape shall not be touched or handled once the release liner has been removed.
