2、xible exteriorpaint for plastic substrates. It must be cured with a suitable isocyanatehardener.2. APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for material used as two packpaint for plastic bumpers.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Q

3、uality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/

4、OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated mate

5、rial lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAl l Tests according to this specification shall be performed in acontrolled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 - 65 % relative humidityif

7、 equirement is as determined by the United StatesEnvironmental Protection Agency Reference Method #24 and isonly applicable to materials used in the USA.3.5 MATERIAL PROPERTIES3.5.1 Non-volatile see Initial Sample +/- 1 %(FLTM BI 102-01)The non volatile content varies depending on the colour:Black a

8、nd dark colours: min 45 %Other colours: min 55 %White: min 65 %The n on-volatile content shall be determined at a sprayviscosity of 20 s according to para 3.5.4.3.5.2 Density see Initial Sample +/- 0.02 g/mL(ASTM D 1475)3.5.3 Viscosity as supplied see Initial Sample +/- 5 s(FLTM BI 111-01)3.5.4 Spra

9、y Viscosity as specified by the supplier(FLTM BI 111-01, FC #4)The material can be reduced with Xylene (WSK-M14J239-A) andButyl acetate (WSK-M14J228-B).3.5.5 Mixing Ratio as specified by the supplierThe material shall be cured with isocyanate hardenerWSK-M99J359-A or WSK-M99J360-A.3.5.6 Dry Hiding P

10、ower, max 40 micrometre(FLTM BI 158-01)3.5.7 Storage Stability 90 daysDuri ng a storage of 90 days between 5 and 32 C temperaturethe m aterial as supplied shall not settle up or cakeinsol uble. After the storage the material must pass allspecification requirements.3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELSENGIN

12、e cleaned by an acceptablepr ocess, e.g. power wash, to remove mold releasing agents,fingerprints, oils, dirt and moisture.3.6.3 Primer Surfacer (if required)Application of a primer surfacer, filmthickness and baking asspecified in the relevant material specification.3.6.4 Topcoat applicationDry fil

13、m thickness: 40 - 45 micrometreFlash off time: 5 minutesBaking: 35 minutes at 80 C (Object temperature) or25 minutes at 90 C (Object temperature)3.6.5 AgeingTest panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 168 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 + /- 1 C beforetesting for resistance

16、ce with theappropriate Ford Motor Company Process Specification.The topcoat must be compatible with all related materials.3.11 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pr i

17、or to making any changes in the properties, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, T

18、oxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford a

19、pply tothe mat erials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification

20、 must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffect ed Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the supplier shall submit to the affected Mat

21、erials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecimen s for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List. 5.
