SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a low temperature curing, epoxy-fiberglass laminate

3、, supplied in die cut form. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used to reinforce and stiffen sheet metal body panels. This material can be applied to oiled body steel panels. Recommended minimum material bake schedule in 20 minutes at 160 C metal temperature. 3. R

4、EQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 DIMENSIONS As specified on the Engineering drawing 3.5 UNCURED MATERIAL PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Construction

5、 Construction shall consist of a epoxy-fiberglass adhesive laminate with a release liner on one side. There shall be no loose glass fibers after the die cut operation. 3.5.2 Thickness (ASTM D 461, 85 g load, 25 mm dia foot) Fiberglass and adhesive, As specified on the without release paper Engineeri

6、ng drawing 3.5.3 Formability The material shall not delaminate or crack when folded 180 upon itself. 7、ness) 3.5.5 Tack Adhesion The material shall not peel at edges or fall off from panel. Test Method: . Apply a 100 x 150 mm adhesive laminate strip to the center of a 300 x 300 mm metal panel of each substrate listed in para 5.2. . Pass a 2 kg roller over sample in one forward and one reverse directi

8、on. . Invert panels immediately after adhesive application and condition at 23 +/- 2 C for 4 h minimum. . Save panels for Inverted Bake test, para 3.5.2. 3.5.6 Resistance to Phosphate Wash No evidence of material wash off or displacement due to precleaning or phosphating process Test Method: . Test

9、panel preparation according to 3.5.5 . After conditioning for 2 h at 23 +/- 2 C expose test assembly in horizontal position to a water jet of 50 +/- 5 C using a nozzle No. 1/2 GG-25 Full Jet and a pressure of 200 kN/m2. The distance between the nozzle and test material shall be 300 mm. The water jet

10、 shall be applied between the beads for 1 minute. 3.5.6.1 Functional Evaluation Materials being evaluated for initial approval to the specification shall be subjected to a production trial in an area intended for use. This trial will be conducted after all other specification requirements have been

11、met including laboratory evaluation for flow phosphate wash resistance. 3.5.7 Electrocoat Compatibility Shall not contaminate (FLTM BV 119-01, oiled panels electrocoat primer bath according to FLTM BZ 150-11, or cause electrocoat “Normal Grade“ film irregularities ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION

Material blocking or dimensional changes are not permitted during container shipping or storage. 3.5.9 Storage Stability 3 months The materi

13、al shall be stored in sealed packages containing desiccant at temperatures below 32 C away from all sources of heat and sunlight. Heat greatly accelerates aging. When these materials are stored at temperatures below 23 C, they shall be conditioned at room temperature prior to application. Adequate c

14、onditioning permits the material to obtain its optimum application properties. Materials in opened packages shall be used within 72 hours. 3.5.10 Release Paper Adherence and Removal The release paper shall remain attached to adhesive surface during shipping and handling. It shall be easily removed f

15、rom the adhesive without adhesive separation or paper tear prior to application. 3.6 CURED MATERIAL PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Flexural Strength, min Condition for 30 minutes at 23 +/- 2 C prior to test. 3.6.1.1 Test at 23 +/- 2 C 150 N 3.6.1.2 Test at 90 +/- 2 C 100 N After Environmental Aging condition for

16、24 h at 23 +/- 2 C after exposure, then test at 23 +/- 2 C. 3.6.1.3 14 days heat age at 150 N 90 +/- 2 C 3.6.1.4 500 h humidity at 150 N 38 +/- 2 C and 95 - 100 R.H. 3.6.1.5 10 cycles: 150 N 4 h at 90 +/-2 C, 4 h humidity (38 +/- 2 C and 95 - 100 % R.H), and 16 h at - 30 +/- 2 C ENGINEERING MATERIAL

Apply a 25 x 150 mm adhesive laminate strip to a 25 x 150 mm panel of each substrate listed in para 5.2. . Pass a 2 kg rolle

18、r over sample in one forward and reverse direction. . Cure test samples per the process bake schedules, para 5.3. . After exposure to each test condition, place test samples in the fixture shown below. . Conduct flexural strength test at a crosshead rate of 5 mm/minute. . Record the peak load value.

19、 A minimum of 3 samples per test condition shall be evaluated. Test Method: . Subject the panels prepared per pa

20、ra 3.5.5 to an inverted bake at the process bake conditions per para 4.3. . Save samples for Cold Slam test, para 3.6.3. 3.6.3 Cold Slam (FLTM BV 101-02, procedure A, - 30 +/- 2 C, 10 cycles of 6 slams) The material shall not crack or separate from panel. 3.7 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being eval

21、uated for initial approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production functional trial. The functional trial results shall be available to design and material engineering activities prior to material approval and release. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided f

22、or clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 MECHANICAL CONVECTION OVEN The mechanical oven(s) used to cure the material shall be capable of obtaining 204 C metal temperature on body steel (0.9 mm thickness) within 8 - 10 minutes. 5.2 SUBSTRATES Cold rolled

23、steel as specified on Engineering drawing with panel thickness of 0.8 mm unless otherwise specified. Note: If any other steel, f.e. procoated with Zn, Zn/Ni, Duplex, galvanealed, etc. gets relevant for manufacturing, the adhesive has to be tested according to this specification on these substrates.

24、Use current production paints as identified by the appropriate Materials Engineering Activity. 5.3 PROCESS BAKE SCHEDULES 5.3.1 Minimum: 20 minutes at 160 C metal temperature. 5.3.2 Maximum: 20 minutes at 177 C metal temperature. 5.4 INITIAL BOND Application of material should be proceeded that a sufficient bonding is provided (see 3.5.5 and 3.5.6).
