SCOPE These specifications define the performance requirements for commercial vehicle chassis and transmission components prior to shipment to assembly plants. WSK-M2P157-A1 For parts requiring extra-light corrosion resistance or functional requ

4、irements. WSK-M2P157-A2 For parts requiring light corrosion resistance or functional requirements. WSK-M2P157-A3 For parts requiring light-moderate corrosion resistance or functional requirements. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally to be specified on frame members and other

5、 chassis and transmission parts where uniform coverage, adequate appearance, and up to light-moderate corrosion protection and performance are required. These specifications are not intended to limit the coating to any specific material or process, but define the performance of the system. 3. REQUIR

6、EMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.3 SYSTEM COMPONENTS All requirements are for actual finished parts. Assessment of chip resistance may only b

7、e made on prepared panels. In deciding on a suitable system, compatibility with the finish paint system is mandatory. 3.3.1 Substrate As specified on the Engineering Drawing. 8、es, Inc. Page 2 of 4 3.3.2 Cleaning The surface to be coated must be free from oil or alkaline residues, finger prints, rust, dirt, moisture, and other foreign materials. A preliminary shot blasting or pickling operation is required on castings, forgings, scaled steel. Zinc phosphate pretreatment is

9、 recommended, but is not mandatory. The required performance may be achieved with an etch primer or other technique. Where zinc phosphate is used it should be as follows: Zinc phosphate coating per WSK-M3P1-C for cold rolled steel, pre-coated, electroplated zinc or zinc alloy coated steel, zinc die

10、castings. Chromium oxide coating per WSK-M6P2-B is used for aluminum. Zinc phosphate coating per WSK-M3P1-C shall be used if steel and aluminum parts are processed concurrently. The aluminum tolerance of the process used shall not be exceeded and all requirements of both WSK-M3P1-C and this specific

11、ation shall be met by both steel and aluminum parts. Light weight amorphous iron phosphate is not permitted. Machined surfaces which on assembly mate with other surfaces are to be masked. 3.3.3 Coating Material 3.3.3.1 The quality required is that obtainable with best commercial practice to meet the

12、 performance requirements of this specification. Either air dried or stoved finishes may be used, and application can be by any suitable method (spray, dip, electrocoat, powder coat) providing the finished quality is satisfactory. 3.3.3.2 Coating System Coating must be sufficient to meet all perform

13、ance requirements of this specification. Durability is obtained by a) Quality of materials used b) Variation in film thickness 3.4 FILM PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Color (FLTM BI 109-01) Black or as specified on the Engineering Drawing. Shall match the Master Appearance Sample color panel. ENGINEERING MATERIAL

Page 3 of 4 3.4.2 Initial Hardness The finish shall be sufficiently cured at the time of packing to withstand normal handling and shipping without damage. 3.4.3 Film Thickness, min (FLTM

15、 BI 117-01) 3.4.3.1 Spray and dip coatings 25 m (conventional) 3.4.3.2 Electrocoat 20 m 3.4.3.3 Powder coat 45 m Film thickness must be sufficient to meet all the performance requirements of these specifications. 3.5 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Paint Adhesion Grade 0 (FLTM BI 106-01, Method B) No ch

16、ipping 3.5.2 Chip Resistance, max Rating 1 (FLTM BI 107-01) Note: Tests shall be conducted on flat test pieces cut from components, or on panels prepared in accordance with FLTM BI 103-02 which have been coated exactly as component parts. 3.5.3 Water Resistance, min (FLTM BI 104-01) WSK-M2P157-A1 48

17、 h WSK-M2P157-A2 72 h WSK-M2P157-A3 96 h No softening, rust, dulling, color change and/or loss of adhesion. Blistering no greater than Few, Size 8 (ASTM D 714) is permitted. Adhesion shall be tested according to item 3.5.1. 3.5.4 Salt Spray Resistance, min (FLTM BI 103-01) WSK-M2P157-A1 48 h WSK-M2P

18、157-A2 72 h WSK-M2P157-A3 96 h No rust spots, blistering, chipping, peeling, rust creepage or adhesion loss more than 3 mm from scratches, scar marks or sharp edges. 19、Page 4 of 4 3.5.5 Solvent Resistance (FLTM BI 152-01) No blistering, lifting, or more than slight softening or dulling. No color transfer when wiped dry with a soft cloth. 3.5.6 Hot Oil Resistance The finish shall not blister, lift or show more than a slight softening or dulling after immersion for 1 h at 65 +/- 2 C in currently used factory-fill crankcase oil. No color shall transfer when wiped dry with a soft cloth. 3.5.7 Special Requirements Threads are to be free from paint unless otherwise specified. Critical areas are to be masked as identified on the component drawing.
