2、-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a two pack primer. It must be cured with a suitable isocyanate hardener. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as two pack primer for the “Suede Coating“ paint system. 3. REQ
3、UIREMENTS 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/source approval. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data so that var
4、iation in the final product is continuously reduced. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approva
5、l shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING All test values indicated herein are based
6、 on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 3.4 COMPOSITION 3.4.1 Resin: Synthetic resins. 3.4.2 Pigments: Pigments to obtain the desired co

8、used in the USA. 3.5 MATERIAL PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Non-volatile See Initial Sample +/- 1 %; (FLTM BI 102-01) min 42 % The non-volatile content shall be determined at a spray viscosity of 20 s according to para 3.5.4. 3.5.2 Density See Initial Sample +/- 0.05 g/mL (ASTM D 1475) 3.5.3 Viscosity as supplie
9、d See Initial Sample +/- 5 s (FLTM BI 111-01) 3.5.4 Spray Viscosity As specified by the supplier (FLTM BI 111-01, FC #4) The material shall be reduced with Thinner WSK-M14J246-A or equivalent. 3.5.5 Mixing Ratio As specified by the supplier The material shall be cured with isocyanate hardener WSK-M9
10、9J363-A. 3.5.6 Storage Stability: 90 days During a storage of 90 days between 5 and 32 C temperature the material as supplied shall not settle up or cake insoluble. After the storage the material must pass all specification requirements. 3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.6.1 Substrate: Polycarbonate,
11、 ABS, Polyamide or metallic substrates as required on Engineering Drawing. Note: PP/EPDM plastics must be primed with an adhesion primer prior to painting. 3.6.2 Plastic Preparation The surface to be painted shall be cleaned by an acceptable process, e.g. power wash, to remove mold releasing agents,
12、 fingerprints, oils, dirt and moisture. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSK-M6J164-A WP 3948-b Page 3 of 4 3.6.3 Primer Application Dry film thickness: 15 - 20 micrometre; Flash off time: 5 minutes at room temperature; Baking: 20 minutes at 80 C (object temperature). 3.6.4 Topcoat Application of
13、two pack top coat as required in material specification WSK-M2J223-A. 3.6.5 Ageing: Test panels prepared under this specification shall be aged for at least 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C before testing for resistance properties. 3.7 COLOR Grey or as specified on (FLTM BI 109-01) Engineeri
14、ng Drawing 3.8 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES Test Panels and painted plastic parts prepared according to this specification shall meet all requirements of performance specification WSK-M2P163-A. 3.9 QUALITY The primer must be adaptable for application in accordance with the appropriate Ford Motor Company Pr
15、ocess Specification. The primer must be compatible with all related materials, e.g. topcoat or plastic substrate. 3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to
16、making any changes in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labelling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicol
17、ogy and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. 18、e 4 of 4 Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering document for the appli
19、cation. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineer
20、ing activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specificat
21、ion (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Up
22、on approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for assistance and clarification and does not represent requirement(s) to this specification. 5.1 PRETREATMENT For Polypropylene substrates a pretr
23、eatment, e.g. by flame process, corona discharge or plasma treatment, may be necessary prior to painting to provide sufficient paint adhesion. 5.2 DENSITY OF THE DRY FILM See Initial Sample +/- 0.02 kg/L (FLTM BI 154-02) 5.3 MATERIAL REFERENCE All related materials used for approval of primer according to this specification, e.g. topcoat or plastic substrates, shall be noted in the Initial Sample Report of the primer.
