2、 of a low carbon steelcore covered equally on both sides with an ACN modified NBR.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally as gasket between aluminiumthrottle body and plastic intake manifold.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Qu

3、ality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/O

4、R THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated mater

5、ial lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll tests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104 type 7materia l unless otherwise specified. The requireme

6、nts of thisspecifi cation are valid for gasket material of 0.35 to 0.60 mmthickness. Test specimens are to be selected from finished gasketswhen practicable.Prior to testing, the m aterial shall be conditioned for at least 4 hat 23 +/- 2 C in a closed chamber containing anhydrous calciumchloride as

7、a dessicant . The air in the chamber shall be circulatedby gentle mechanical ag itation. Specimens shall then be transferredimmed iately to a controlled humidity room and conditioned for atleast 20 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M8G246-AWP 3948

13、ation (added for laminated materials)(see 3.9.2)3.12 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, colo

14、r, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed cha

15、ngesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefin

16、ed in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity

17、 Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test report

18、s, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
