2、by this specification consist of a multi ply steelcore surface coated with an FPM.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally as a cylinder head gasket.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSMaterial suppliers and part producers must conform to QualitySystem Requirements, QS-9000

3、. Material specification requirementsare to be used for initial qualification of materials. A ControlPlan for ongoing production verification is required. This planmust be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materialsactivity and/or Ford Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior toproduction

4、parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must beused to analyze process/product data and assure consistentprocessing of the materials.Part producers using this material in their products, must use Fordapproved materials and must conform to a process control plan whichhas been approved by STA

5、and/or the relevant Materials Activity.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approvalshall constitute

6、 the reference standard and shall be kept on fileat the designated material laboratory. 7、ING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104 Type 7material unless otherwise specified. The requirements of thisspecification are valid for gasket material of 0.4 to 3.0 mmthickness. Test specimens are to be selected from finished gasketswhen practicable.Prior to

8、testing the materials shall be conditioned for 4 h at 23+/- 2 C in a closed chamber containing anhydrous calcium chlorideas a desiccant. The air in the chamber shall be circulated bygentle mechanical agitation. Specimens shall then be transferredimmediately to a controlled humidity room and conditio

9、ned for atleast 20 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity.3.4 ORIGINAL PROPERTIES3.5.1 ASH CONTENT OF COVER ING MATERIAL, max 4.0 %(TGA, 800 C, Ramp 20 C/min, 20 - 700 C N2,700 - 800 C air)3.5 HEAT AGING(ASTM D 573, 22 h at 200 +/- 3 C)3.5.1 Delamination (separate test for each ply)Test Me

10、thod: Firmly hold the sample at one point on acircular mandrel of diameter 6.0 mm thickness and forceslowly but firmly under finger pressure to contact the fulldiameter of the mandrel. Failure shall be any cracks,breaks or surface separation or delamination at theapproximate time (5 +/- 1 s) require

12、ION WSK-M8G251-AWP 3948-b Page 3 of 33.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing o

13、r labeling of the materialoriginally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the

14、 written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, applyto the materials addressed by this document. The regulations aredefined in Engineering Ma

15、terials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffected Purchasing, Des

16、ign and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test facility,demonstrating full compliance with all the requireme

17、nts of thisspecification (test results, not nominal values), the materialdesignation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on itsperformance to this specification and on an assessment of suitabilityfor intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the materialwill be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
