2、EW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a glazing paste. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as glazing material for soldered areas on automobiles. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to the requirements of F

3、ord Quality System Standard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as described therein is required for material/source approval. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data so that variation in the final product is continually reduced. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETR

4、Y AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company in its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of materials/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designa

5、ted Material Laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 ULTRA VIOLET SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS (FLTM tbd) All approved materials shall contain with Initial Sample Report a UV-spectroscopic analys

6、is. This shall be recorded and filed by Quality Control or relevant Testing Laboratories of the Ford Motor Company. 7、G All panels shall be aged for 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 43 +/- 2 C before testing for resistance properties unless otherwise specified. In the event of differences between test results, the results after aging at room temperature shall govern. All tests according to this specification shall be

8、performed in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 - 65 % relative humidity if not otherwise specified. 3.5 COMPOSITION 3.5.1 Resin Epoxy Ester based on semi-drying fatty acids. 3.5.2 Pigment Suitable materials to provide the physical and resistance properties of this specification. The mater

9、ial must contain an adequate amount of metallic and non-metallic pigments in order that electrocoating of dried glazing paste with Ford approved current electrocoat is possible. 3.5.3 Solvent Ethylglycolacetate 3.5.4 Specific Composition When it is necessary to obtain specific data regarding the mat

10、erial formulation, it is understood that the supplier will furnish such data on request. 3.5.5 Special Data All initial and batch submissions must indicate density and non-volatile content as supplied on the sample report. 3.6 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Non-volatile Initial Sample (FLTM BI 102-01) +/

11、- 1.0 % Minimum (total solid content) 80.0 % Minimum pigment content 62.0 % (percent of non-volatiles) 3.6.2 Density Initial Sample +/- (ASTM D 1475) 0.02 g/mL ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSK-M99J372-A 3.6.3 Viscosity (FLTM BI 111-01, Ford Cup 4, 25 C) Package Viscosity Paste Reduced Viscosit

12、y 45 +/- 5 s (30 % w/w Ethylglycolacetate) 3.7.3 Phosphate coat with currently used Ford approved zinc phosphate to WSK-M3P1-C requirements. 3.7.4 Apply glazing paste under test so that all the soldered area and part of the steel are covered. 3.7.5 Electrocoat with currently used Ford approved elect

13、rocoat. Bake according to production system. 3.7.6 Prime with currently used Ford approved primer surfacer, baked according to relevant material specification, and water sand with grade 360 paper to a dry film thickness aproximately 20 micrometres. 3.7.7 Top coat with currently used black Ford appro

14、ved top coat, baked according to relevant material specification, dry film thickness aproximately 40 micrometres. 3.6.4 Solvent Emissions, max 0.096 kg/L (ASTM D 3960) This requirement is as determined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency Reference Method #24 but is only applicable t

15、o materials used in the USA. 3.7 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.7.1 Substrate Ford Engineering approved Standard Steel Test Panels 75 x 230 x 0.9 mm body steel panels. These panels are prepared by joining two 75 x 130 x 0.9 mm test panel together and spot welding across the width. Four spotwelds are n

16、ecessary. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSK-M99J372-A 3.7.2 Apply solder to cover the welds to an area of 60 square cm. 3.8 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.8.1 Water Cycle Resistance 192 h Daily cycle the test panels through 16 h immersion in pure water at 50 C, then 8 h air dry at 23 +/- 2 C, for 8 cy

17、cles. No blistering, wrinkling, softening, dulling, colour change, and/or loss of adhesion. 3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any change in th

18、e properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Mate

19、rials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials add

20、ressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering document for the application. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior appro

21、val by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering ac

22、tivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test spe

23、cimens for Ford evaluation. In addition to meeting the requirements of this specification, the materials will be assessed for suitability for intended applications as part of the approval process. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List. ENGINEERING
