2、f medium granule siz e cork with a chlorosulfonated polyethylenebinder. On contact with automatic transmission fluid, it will exhibit swellwithout disintegrating or weeping.2. APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for material used for oil pangaskets where oil sealing at low flange

3、loading is required.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/

4、product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established

5、 for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll t

6、ests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104 type 2materia l unless otherwise specified. The requirements of thisspecif ication are valid for gasket material of 1.75 to 2.0 mmthickness. Test specimens are to be selected from finished gasketswhen practicable.Prior to testing, the m aterial s

7、hall be conditioned for at least 4 hat 23 +/- 2 C in a closed chamber containing anhydrous calciumchloride as a desiccant . The air in the chamber shall be circulatedby gentle mechanical ag itation. Specimens shall then be transferredimmed iately to a controlled humidity room and conditioned for atl

Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specificat

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible

17、Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy

18、of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluati

19、on. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications.
