、TERIOR COMPONENTS, FLEXIBLE COVER SKIN MATERIAL NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an instrument panel assembly, instrument panel component, floor console armrest, valence panel, hush panel, door panel or wrapped pillar, which utilizes a flexible (so

、ft) cover skin material over a hard substrate with or without foam or spacer fabric, and with or without a topcoat. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for all soft interior components, not including seats, molded/foam-in-place armrests and headrests. Instrume

、nt panels containing an integrated airbag system must also meet any additional specifications on the Engineering Document. Hard instrument panels should be tested to WSS-M15P4-F. This specification includes top-coated (added for gloss control, haptics and/or cleanability) and in-mold coated (IMC) sk

、ins. All painted (20 m film build) flexible cover skins shall meet the requirements of WSS-M2P188-A1. Testing must be conducted on parts at DV and PV unless specified otherwise by Ford Engineering. See Tables 1 soft upper door trim panels): 7 days at 100 +/- 2 C 3.3.2.3 Horizontal or vertical parts

、BELOW THE BELT-LINE (e.g., door panels and soft consoles that are not integrated with the instrument panel): 7 days at 90 +/- 2 C 3.3.2.4 Other non-sun loaded floor level parts. 7 days at 80 +/- 2 C Requirements: The trimmed assemblies shall remain relatively unaffected by the exposure cycles during

、 and after the tests as demonstrated: (1) Tactually/visually - no excessive tackiness, loss in surface-grain, or surface-color change (AATCC Procedure 1, Rating 4, min); no wrinkling, distortion, blistering, warping, delamination, blushing, hazing, milking, staining, waviness, or other objectionable

、 visual appearance. (2) Functionally - no excessive expansion, shrinking, or warping that will interfere with normal functional operations. (3) Dimensionally - no movement exceeding 3.0 mm from the original installed position during or after the test; for the “significant characteristic locations“,

、no movement exceeding 0.5 mm from the original installed position during or after the test. Dimensional exceptions to these requirements may be allowed on the Engineering drawing. For Instrument Panels Only (para 3.3.3 3.3.5): Test Method: After sunload testing/heat aging, cut test specimens (remove

、 foam and substrate) and condition them for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity prior to performing the following tests: 3.3.3 Color Stability Rating 3 min (ISO 105-A02/AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1) Shall show no evidence of tackiness, spewing, or exhibit staining. Any spotty or non-u

、 3.5 INDENTATION AND RECOVERY Complete recovery after 1 hour (FLTM BO 111-02, Method B) Only applicable for components with foam or spacer fabric between the skin and substrate. 3.6 COLOR AND APPEARANCE PROPERTIES Sample shall be tested as part of a production assembly composite (skin and foam or sp

、acer fabric). Sample shall be cut from the locations specified. The material shall not exhibit staining, color tone change or change in hue after exposure in accordance with Fade Testing below. Read and report the gloss change. In addition, there shall be no cracking, crazing or other deterioration.

、 The material must remain flexible and exhibit no cracking when bent around a 20 +/- 2 mm mandrel after the specified exposure. Remove foam and bend with foam side of skin to the mandrel.
