、PE The material defined by this specification is tanned full grain from steer or heifer hides. The finish coating shall be a series of pigmented or clear resins to ensure compliance to all requirements of these specifications 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for full grain l

、eather for hand wrapped steering wheels or shift knobs. 2.1 LIMITATIONS - This leather is not to be used for seating, interior trim, or instrument panel applications - Fully perforated leather is not to be used on steering wheels or shift knobs. - Under no circumstances shall this leather be subject

、ed to steam heat, water, organic solvents or cleaners during the manufacturing process. No buffing stuccoing, filling or other repair is permitted. - Due to the special sourcing of the anolin leather crust, the material does not meet the gravemetric fogging requirements in WSS-M98P12-C2. 3. REQUIREM

、ENTS 3.1 APPROVED SOURCES This specification requires the use of approved sources. Only the sources identified on the Ford Approved Source List (ASL) can be used when this specification is listed on the drawing, CAD file, or other documents. The list of approved sources is located within Ford at or

、 available externally through a Ford Materials Engineer. 3.2 APPEARANCE The color, grain, gloss and hand shall match the approved Corporate Design master sample. 3.3 SPECIALTY GRAIN This leather is not embossed and is a full grain with no alteration to the surface. Minimal top coat is applied to enh

、ance durability of the material. The leather must be through dyed to prevent undyed fibers from showing through after sewing or perforation. 3.4 LEATHER PERFORMANCE Materials manufactured to this specification shall also meet the requirements contained in WSS-M98P12-C2/latest, except for fogging, wh

ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M1F34-A1 Copyright 2018, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 4 For all test method results, no individual specimen shall fall below the minimum values specified herein. Test plans for both construction and color approvals can be

、 found on Table 1 within WSS-M98P12-C2/latest with the expection of the tests required below (sections 3.9 3.15). 3.5 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values are based on material conditioned for not less than 24 h prior to testing in a controlled environment of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% rel

、ative humidity. Testing of the material should occur in the conditioning environment or soon after removal. 3.6 SAMPLE SELECTION LOCATIONS The location of the test samples is described in ISO 2418 or ASTM D2813 for physical testing of leather samples. Refer to WSS-M98P12-C2/latest for samples to be

、taken from the belly and backbone areas as noted in Table 1 of that specification. 3.7 FINISH The leather crust must be similar in color (minimum 80% color match) to the surface coating. This is to prevent undyed fibers from showing through after sewing . No correcting or repair of any kind shall be

、 allowed including but not limited to buffing, filling, or stuccoing. Buffing is allowed for split leather only. 3.8 THICKNESS 1.5 - 2.0 mm (ASTM D1813) 3.9 BREAKING STRENGTH 1200 N min (ASTM D2208) 3.10 ELONGATION AT 100 N 7.5 - 17.5 % (ISO 3376, Cross and longitudinal directions Specimen size 50 X

For shipping, all materials or parts shall be sampled immediately after manufacture, then bagged in

、a zipper- or slide-sealed polyethylene (PE) bag, PE-coated aluminum bag or wrapped in aluminum foil prior to bagging. Test specimens shall be cut, then stored in a clean, open environment for 14-28 days. After 14-28 days of air exposure, the specimens shall be tested immediately or re-bagged until t

Bagged materials or parts must be labelled on the outside of the bag with the following information, and included in the test report: supplier, contact information, product code/trade name or part number, manufacturing location, date of manufacture, shipping date, start and

、end dates of conditioning period and test date. Sample shall be tested as part of a production assembly composite if it is, 100% bonded. If not 100% bonded, test each component separately. Parts for testing must be labelled with supplier and date of manufacture. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The informatio
