4、eter section, as applicable. The sealer thickness shall increase the major thread diameter not less than 0.20 mm or more than 1.50 mm. Adhesion of the sealer to the screw must be greater than the cohesive strength of the material so that the sealer tends to separate rather than strip from the screw.

5、 Paint Staining: Shall not show any migration staining after 72 h exposure. Test Method: Samples of sealing compound are secured tightly to production enamel surface and placed in the fluorescent sunlamp fixture as described in FLTM BV 107-02. The pilot holes shall be as specified by the Ford Standard for metal tapping screws as w

7、ell as the clearance holes for the stainless steel shim stock. Screws shall be turned full-in and shall not exceed normal torque values. Shim stock thickness shall be adjusted so that bottoming-out of screws does not occur. As received: No leaks permitted after 4 h under a 25 mm static head of water

8、. Aged 7 days at 70 +/- 2 C: No leaks permitted after 4 h under a 25 mm static head of water. Cold Shocked: No leaks permitted after 4 h under a 25 mm static head of water, and after test panel has been slammed 6 times, following 24 h at - 30 C in slam fixture as described in FLTM BV 101-01. Aged 50

9、 minutes at 115 +/- 3 C: No leaks permitted after 4 h under a 25 mm static head of water. 3.2.2 WSS-M21P27-A2 Standard Parts Suffix Identifier XB This specification covers the requirements for a wax applied to the inside diameter of hose clamp to lower the friction between the clamp and hose. Specif

10、ic requirements are being determined. 3.2.3 WSS-M21P27-A3 Standard Parts Suffix Identifier XC This specification covers the requirements for a fluorocarbon polymer based coating to be used on fasteners to reduce the adhesion of electrodeposited primers and/or coatings as well as weld splatter partic

The coating shall be applied to the flank surfaces of the threads for both internally and externally threaded product and to the contact surface, or hole, in the case of tapping plates or unt

12、hreaded nut product. The presence of absence of the coating at the crests and/or root valleys of the thread is permissible provided it does not interfere with assembly of the fastener. The coating shall have a uniform appearance and be free of tears, runs, and flaked areas. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPEC

No coating shall be present on any drive or bearing surfaces (i.e. hexagon flats or recesses) for bolt, screw, stud, and nut product or on weld projections nibs and head surfaces for weld studs and nuts. For qualification and referee purposes, coated free-runnin

15、g bolts, studs, screws, and nuts must be able to be assembled with finger effort before and after exposure to production representative electrodeposition and/or welding processes. Similarly, coated prevailing torque bolts, studs, and nuts must meet their respective standard parts book performance re

16、quirements, or as called out on the individual drawings, before and after exposure to production representative electrodeposition or welding processes. 3.2.4 WSS-M21P27-A4 Standard Parts Suffix Identifier XD This specification covers the requirements for a water-based wax lubricant that can be adher

17、ed to metal surfaces. The applied coating provides a low coefficient of friction. Unless otherwise specified on the part drawing thread forming screws are normally coated from the point to a distance of 10 threads maximum. ISO metric threaded bolts shall be coated from the point for a distance of 8

18、to 10 full threads. No coating shall be present on any drive or bearing surfaces. This specification was released originally for a thread coating on seatbelt thread rolling screws to reduce the torque required to form the thread, but is not limited to this application. TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE: Coated

19、 fasteners shall withstand a temperature of 60 C without melting or degradation of the lubricant. THREAD FORMING CAPABILITY: When applied to thread forming screws a mating thread must be formed by driving the sample screw into the test plate until a minimum of one pitch of the screw, excluding the t

20、apered lead threads, extends beyond the plate. The axial load to ensure commencement of the thread forming process shall not exceed 20N. The test plate shall be of low carbon rolled steel having a hardness of 115 to 150 HV30. As an alternative to a test plate, unthreaded nuts may be used, for exampl

NOTE: These materials may be specified on fasteners that have multiple stage finishing processes. In some cases it may

It is recommended that the processing route be agreed between the fastener maker, surface finisher and sealer applicator to meet the Ford requirements. Sealer Dimensions: Fasteners shall have sealer compound applie
