SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are float glass mirrors.
3、 The reflective surface is produced by the deposition of inorganic, metal oxide layers onto the “first surface“ of the glass. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for materials used as exterior rear view mirrors. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be u
4、sed for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.3 DIMENSIONS 3.3.1 Glass Thickness To be specified on the engineering d
5、rawing 3.4 DEFECTS The coated glass surface shall be free from noticeable defects such as open pits. The glass surface may contain fine scattered seeds (bubbles) less than 0.40 mm in diameter. The reflective coating shall be free of noticeable pinholes which affect the appearance or the optical prop
6、erties of the mirror. Hairline scratches, not grouped or starting from the glass edge, up to 25 mm long are permitted, when viewed from a distance of 610 mm looking into diffused light from a clear sky without any direct sun or equivalent. 3.5 REFLECTANCE, min 50% (SAE J964, Illuminant C) The reflec
7、tive coating shall meet all the requirements of FMVSS 571.111 S11. 8、embly (consisting of the reflective coating, glass substrate, and blackout mask) shall not exceed 4% when measured at incident angles between 25 and 45 from mirror normal toward the driver in a horizontal plane. The interior of the case shall not be visible from drivers viewing angle. 3.7 CHROMATICI
9、TY (SAE J1545, ASTM E 308 CIE Illuminant C) The mirror shall conform to the following chromaticity requirement based on SAE J1545 and ASTM E308 and using CIE Illuminant C as the neutral reference. for 20=75 |a*|=70 |a*|=15 |b*|=15 3.8 DISTORTION WSS-M26G12-A1 only 3.8.1 Flat Glass, max 3% (FLTM BO 1
10、20-03) 3.8.2 Convexed Glass WSS-M26G12-A2 only When looking in an image of a 25 mm grid, spaced 254 mm from the mirror, and the eye at 254 mm, the image of the grid shall not exhibit any waviness. Waviness is herein described as the lines of the grid curving in one direction and then reversing the d
11、irection of curvature. See Figure 1 for test apparatus. 3.9 THERMAL CYCLING, min. Four cycles (96h) Cycle: . 16 h at 98 +/- 2% R.H. and 38 +/- 1 C . 4 h at -40 +/- 1 C . 4 h at 88 +/- 1 C Test Method: Place mirror assembly vertically in the chambers. No evidence of discoloration, poor adhesion of th
12、e reflective film to the glass, or loss of reflectivity in excess of 1%. 3.10 SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE, min 150 h (ASTM B117) No more than 6 failed spots per 930 cm2 of exposed surface which are visible to the unaided eye at normal reading distance, and no loss of reflectivity in excess of 1%. Test Met
13、hod: Two glass mirror blanks shall be exposed to salt spray. The samples shall be placed with the coated side exposed and inclined at an angle of 15 from the vertical. Samples shall be arranged to prevent contact with each other and to permit free settling of the fog on the coated surface. ENGINEERI

Slight scratches due to abrasive particles in the rubber eraser shall be
15、 ignored. There shall be no loss of adhesion and no loss of reflectivity in the abraded area in excess of 1%. Test Method: The mirror shall be removed from the case and abrasion tested as follows: The front reflective film shall be subjected to 1000 cycles of abrasion in a Taber abrader using a clea
16、n 6.35 mm diameter pencil eraser under a 1.0 kg load (Blaisdel 536T New Way eraser or equivalent.) 3.12 RADIUS OF CURVATURE Shall conform to the latest edition of FMVSS 111, Section S12. 3.13 QUALITY The surface finish shall be equivalent to that of the approved master sample. The mirrors must confo
17、rm to the quality requirements of ASTM C1036 Type I, Class I q2 quality. Exterior mirror edges shall conform to SAE J637b, Edge No. 4 requirements. 5.
