2、e material defined by this specification is a solvent free, airless sprayable vinyl based and paint oven temperature curing sealer. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for sealing of interior and exterior spot weld flanges. The Manufacturing Properties and Eng
3、ineering Performance Requirements defined in this specification are based upon laboratory coupon testing and define the minimum acceptance criteria for sealer performance. The assembly process and design for the component will determine the specific sealer processing parameters for each assembly lin
4、e. The component engineering performance requirements are defined by the component SDS (Sub-system Design Specification). Prior to use, the sealer must be evaluated under the component production parameters. The choice of substrates, stamping lubricants, stamping plant processing conditions, assembl
5、y plant processing conditions and specific design application may affect sealer performance. Compliance with this specification does not guarantee the sealer will function for all potential applications on a vehicle. 3. REQUIREMENTS Note: Use test panels EC-coated according to FLTM BI 120-01, C. The
6、 material must be applied on the EC-coated test panels 30 minutes after oven curing. 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY Initial
7、 sealer approval was based on a specific material system which includes the substrate, lubricant, e-coat, sealer, primer, and topcoat. The material system was oven cured using specific production process parameters. Substrate choice, coatings, and assembly plant processing conditions may affect seal
8、er performance. If any of these parameters are changed, the sealer performance must be validated using the new parameters. Condition for 10 min. at RT and expose in a mechanical convection oven at a temperature of 165 +/- 2 C for 30 mi

22、ive agents. Test Method: Dilute a one-gram sample of material with one-gram special white spirit (60/140) and mix thoroughly. Rub a portion of the diluted material 10 times between two pieces of flat, clean plate glass. The appearance of scratches on the glass plate will be considered failure. 3.17
23、SPRAYABILITY The material shall be a smooth homogeneous mixture, free from foreign material and suitable for use in airless spray equipment. It shall spray evenly and rapidly with no tip clogging or fluctuations in the spray pattern and with a minimum spray back and fogging. 3.18 QUALITY The materia
24、l shall be a smooth homogeneous mixture, free from foreign material and properties detrimental to normal production use. It shall be consistent in color and texture and free from objectionable odors during normal production and storage. It shall be suitable for the intended application. 3.19 STORAGE STABILITY, min. 3 months (From date of receipt at Ford Motor Company) When stored in sealed unopened containers out of direct sunlight at ambient temperatures between 5 and 32 C.
