SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a water borne ru

2、st preventive coating consisting of wax modified acrylic compounds. The coating is removable with an alkaline wash. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used to provide protection to the non-class A surfaces of chrome plated steel bumpers. The material dries to a so

3、ft, homogeneous film. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 APPROVED SOURCES This specification requires the use of approved sources. Only the sources identified on the Ford Approved Source List (ASL) can be used when this specification is listed on the drawing, CAD file, or other documents. The list of approved sour

4、ces is located within Ford at or available externally through a Ford Materials Engineer. 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Non-volatiles 32%, min (FLTM BI 102-01) 3.2.2 Color Black (Visual) 3.2.3 Flash Point 93 C, min (ASTM D93) 3.2.4 Shelf Stability 6 months, min Heat greatly accelerates aging. The ma

5、terial shall be stored in closed containers away from all sources of heat. The shelf life of the material shall be 6 months from date of manufacture when stored below 38 C. Suppliers indicating that shelf life can exceed 6 months shall present full specification package data to materials engineer sh

6、owing compliance to the listed date. DO NOT FREEZE. 3.2.5 Weight per Volume 1.01 +/- 0.03 kg/L (ASTM D1475) 3.2.6 Viscosity, 20 RPM (ASTM D2196, Method B, use #5 spindle) 3.2.6.1 At 23 +/- 2 C 6700 +/- 1500 mPa.s 3.2.6.2 At 38 +/- 2 C 2700 +/- 500 mPa.s ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M7C90-B

7、1 Copyright 2015, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 4 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.3.1 Substrate Use sections of chrome plated bumpers. 3.3.2 Application Procedure Spray the test compound to a dry film thickness of 45 to 55 micrometers using an airless spray pump equipped with appropriate

8、size orifice to produce a “flat“ (in one plane) spray pattern. 3.3.3 Application Temperature 20 - 30 C 3.3.4 Drying Time At minimum film thickness, material must be tack free (no transfer of material to the fingertip after application of light pressure) after 38 minutes at 23 +/- 2 C with no air cir

9、culation. 3.4 DRY FILM PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Dry Film Thickness 35 micrometers, min (ASTM D1212) 3.4.2 Crack Resistance No cracks, voids (FLTM BJ 128-03) or shrinkage are to be evident. 3.5 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Laboratory Accelerated Cyclic Corrosion Testing Grade 6 max (CETP 00.00-L-467, 6 weeks,

10、 ASTM D610) The samples must be rated no worse than Grade 6 as defined by ASTM D610. Parts with sharp edges, recessed areas, rough surfaces, or welds may have reduced corrosion resistance at these locations. Final judgment of corrosion performance should be based on visibility of the part as observe

11、d from the rear, engine compartment, or in the wheel wells of the vehicle as described by in RQT-001101-002492. 3.5.2 Resistance to UV Exposure 144 h (ASTM G154) No mud cracking or other surface failure. 3.5.2.1 Laboratory Accelerated Cyclic Corrosion Testing Grade 6 max (CETP 00.00-L-467, 6 weeks,

12、ASTM D 610) After UV Exposure 3.5.3 Resistance to Incidental Fluid Spotting (FLTM BI 168-01, Method B, Gasoline, Engine Oil, Deionized Water, Windshield Wash Fluid) The finish shall not be removed or yellow. 13、C Page 3 of 4 3.5.4 Detergent Wash Resistance (Use the wash test unit from FLTM BV 116-02) Detergent: Use a commercially available detergent that has a pH range of 7.0 to 7.5 when diluted to normal use concentration. Example: No. 7 Car and Truck Wash Concentrate Made by Cyclo Industries, Jupiter, Fl

14、orida Wait at least 24 hours from sample preparation before starting the test. Prepare the test cabinet per FLTM BV 116-02 omitting line 4 of Preparation of Test Cabinet and Panels Run the test per Test and Evaluation of Panels except run the spray for 30 seconds instead of 2 minutes. Test material

15、should be unaffected by the test, exhibiting no edge loss or displacement. 3.5.5 Freeze-Thaw Resistance (3 cycles) Place test panels into a freezer set at - 30 +/- 2 C for one hour. Remove the panels and store at room temperature for one hour. Examine panels. This completes one cycle. The material m

16、ust not crack, peel or lift from the surface of the test panel. 3.5.7 Heat Resistance, 121 C (FLTM BV 118-01, modified, 1 hour, material applied per para 3.3.2) Any evidence of flow shall constitute a failure. 3.5.8 Chip Resistance at 0 C 3C or better (ASTM D3170) Panels coated per para 3.3, conditi

17、oned per para 3.4 of this specification, then conditioned per para 5.4 of ASTM D3170; shall not exceed a chip rating of 3C. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. Contact for questions concer

18、ning Engineering Material Specifications. 4.1 APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Product Development, and Materials Engineering. The supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory te

19、st reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of the Material Specification. Tested material samples must be available for review upon request and kept for a minimum of one year. Upon request, the supplie

20、r will review the associated quality control documents (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Control Plans, Certification testing) with Ford. 4.2 SUPPLIERS ONGOING RESPONSIBILITY All materials must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted.

22、ffected Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Purchasing, and Materials Engineering activities of the proposed changes (with reasons) by submission of a completed Suppliers Request for Engineering Approval, SREA. For parts and components using Ford Engineering Material Specifications, all samples tes

23、ted to the specifications for Design Verification (DV), Production Verification (PV) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) sign off must be kept until Job 1. 4.3 RESTRICTED SUBSTANCE MANAGEMENT STANDARD Substance restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in the Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS-M99P9999-A1 which is updated yearly. It is the suppliers responsibility to comply with this standard on a continuing basis through IMDS and or GMAP reporting.
