3、 DESIGN 1. SCOPE These specifications define the performance requirements for interior seating and trim fabrics, unlaminated (A1), as a trilaminate with a foam and backing scrim (A2), as a fabric/foam bilaminate (A3), or with HF weldable coatings (A4). 2. APPLICATION These specifications were releas

4、ed for materials used as interior trim fabrics for covering automotive seat cushions, seat backs, and trim panels. WSS-M8P18-A1 Unlaminated, typically used for interior trim application WSS-M8P18-A2 Laminated to foam and backing material, such as a knit or woven fabric, for seating application. WSS-

5、M8P18-A3 Laminated to foam with PE film for seating application or trim application. WSS-M8P18-A4 HF-weldable backing (as required to meet requirements of WSS-M15P4-F(latest), SDS, etc.) Definitions: - Commercial vehicles/heavy wear, i.e. trucks, taxi, cargo vans, police vehicles - Passenger vehicle

6、s, i.e. cars, SUV, CUV 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. In addition to the requirements listed herein, the face fabric shall meet all requirements of the applicable material specification. Unless otherwise specified, all initi

7、al evaluation shall be conducted on a tri-laminate using 3 mm nominal foam thickness as agreed with the responsible Materials Engineering Activity. The foam and lamination process must be production representative. For other thicknesses and additional fabric back-coatings the laminates must demonstr

8、ate compliance to this specification for all material lamination combinations utilized. Seat trim cover assemblies or interior trim panels employing these materials must also meet the engineering requirements of the related Ford Motor Performance specification (e.g., WSS-M15P4-F(latest), SDS, seat a

9、ssembly, head-rest, etc.), along with any other requirements shown on the Engineering Drawing. For duplicate requirements, the material specification shall take precedence over the performance specification. Testing must be conducted at each prototype and production build phase unless otherwise spec

10、ified by Ford Engineering. See Table 2 for sample size. 11、equirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 CONSTRUCTION Face fabric shall be specified in the individual material specification. Backing materials as required to meet application and process requirements. Flame retardants used in backing materials must be approved by Ford Toxicology.

12、 Note: Effective 2009 MY programs, the fabric construction package submission must include Resistance to staining requirement per paragraph 3.9.7. This test must be run on a light tan or gray color (can be surrogate) 3.5 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) The color, pattern, and finish shall match the appr

13、oved Corporate Design master sample, or shall be as specified on the engineering drawing. 3.5.1 Instrumental Color Readings * (SAE J1767) *Instrumental color readings may be required at the discretion of Materials Engineering. Visual evaluation will take precedence over instrumental readings in case

14、s of dispute. Acceptable instrumental tolerance from Corporate Design master sample shall be established between fabric supplier and full service supplier and documented in control plan. 3.6 FOGGING (SAE J1756, 3 h at 100 C heating, 21 C cooling plate, post test conditioning 16 h) Fog Number, 70 min

15、 Formation of clear film, droplets or crystals is cause for rejection. 3.7 ODOR, Rating, Rating 3 max (FLTM BO 131-03) 3.8 STRENGTH PROPERTIES Fabric (unlaminated and laminated) must meet the minimum strength properties specified below. Backcoatings,

27、if applied, shall exhibit only slight color change and no deterioration. 3.9.3 Resistance to Bleeding, Perspiration Rating 4 min and Spotting (FLTM AN 101-01 and AATCC Evaluation Procedure 2) In addition, the spotting sample shall not exhibit objectionable rings or stain on its surface when spotted

The resistance to spotting of production material shall be equal to or better than that exhibited by the Master Sample approved for production by Materials Engineering. 3.9.4 Resistance to Rubbing (Crocking) (FLTM BN 107-01, AATCC Evaluation Procedure 2; use instrumental method, FLTM BN

29、107-02, when color transfer is visually apparent) Rating Dry 4 min (4.3 E max) Distilled Water 4 min (4.3 E max) If an instrument with diffuse geometry is used, the specular component of reflectance shall be included in the measurement. NOTE: If a crock result is greater than 4.3 E, repeat the color

Do NOT conduct another crock test on the roll unless examination of the original crock cloth indicates the test was conducted improperly

31、(e.g., uneven pressure of the crock finger). 3.9.4.1 Frequency of Testing The following minimum guidelines for frequency of testing shall apply unless prior written agreement has been obtained from SQA and Materials Engineering. Place 1 test specimen over a 50 x 50 mm AATCC Multifiber Test Fabric No. 10. Center the other test specimen over a 50 x 50 mm AATCC Crockmeter Test cloth with a light,

35、 solid color 65 x 80 mm fabric (construction similar to fabric under test) underneath. Center each test assembly between 65 x 80 mm or larger glass plates and load with a 455 g weight. Place in a 100 +/- 2 C oven for 24 h. After exposure, remove and inspect for any color transfer. The amount of colo

36、r transfer shall not be greater than that exhibited by the Master Sample approved by the Materials Engineering Activity. 3.9.7 Resistance to Staining Rating 4 5 min (FLTM BN 112-12, AATCC Procedure 1 and Instrumental color readings * ) *Instrumental color readings (SAE J1767) may be required at the

49、PROPERTIES Ingress Egress tests are required for all seating applications. In addition, other trim applications may require unique functional evaluations. These tests should be evaluated by a cross-functional team prior to color and trim strategy approval to assess the effects of the fabric selection, seat style, sew style, foam firmness, etc. on the predicted level of customer satisfaction and long term durability. Environmental conditions shall be as specified in the relevant functional evaluation document or as approved by
