SCOPE This specification defines the standard performance re
2、quirements for exterior materials used in fully retractable convertible top assemblies. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released for the exterior material used for convertible top applications including well lining, reinforcements and binding. The headliner must meet requirements per WSS-M15P2
3、7-F Headliner Performance Specification except for paragraphs 3.4, 3.5, 3.11, 3.21 and 3.22. Visible painted metal parts must meet the requirements per WSS-M2P190-A Interior Metal Parts Paint Performance Specification. 3. REQUIREMENTS In addition to the requirements listed herein, the end-item conve
4、rtible top assembly shall meet all requirements of the material specifications for the individual components if applicable. See Table 1 for sample sizes and required testing. 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standar
5、d Requirements for Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 SAMPLE SELECTION All evaluations shall be conducted on test specimens taken from production representative convertible top assemblies. 3.3 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) The color, pattern, and finish shall match the approved Design Center m
6、aster sample, or shall be specified on the engineering drawing. 3.4 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Resistance to Mildew and Staining No evidence of fungal (ASTM G 21 and ASTM E 1428) growth or staining. 3.4.2 Resistance to Wicking (NA for well sling) None (SAE J913, 4h immersion, using 50% soap solutio

REQUIREMENTS-BONDING GRADE In addition to the requirements listed above, bonding grade materials must meet the following added requirements. The criterion for material acceptability for bonding grade
20、materials shall be the assemblys job performance. This means that the surface vinyl formulation must form a satisfactory bond when bonded to itself and equally to the vinyl backlite Material. Also, a satisfactory bond must be obtained between the cloth backing in the presence of a suitable adhesive
21、agent. 4.1 BONDED ASSEMBLY REQUIREMENTS 4.1.1 Resistance to Heating The vinyl coating on this material shall not blister, boil, burn, delaminate or char during the heat bonding process in either the warp or fill direction. Decorative embossing shall not get shiny or be removed during this processing
22、. 4.1.2 Shear Strength of Bonded Seam The strength of the bonded seam shall be greater than the material itself before and after exposure in the Weathermeter (per para 3.6.1) for 750 hrs. Test Method: Cut three 102 x 152 mm specimens from a production bonded assembly so that the bonded area is midwa
23、y along the 152 mm length and parallel to the 102 mm dimension. Insert the 102 mm ends in 25 mm in the jaws of the mechanical tester and pull at the rate of 305 mm/minute until either the bonded seam separates or the material fails. 4.1.3 Peel Strength of Bonded Seam, min As received - Vinyl to Viny
24、l 17 N Exposed - Vinyl to Vinyl 15 N As received - Fabric to Fabric 45 N Exposed - Fabric to Fabric 6 N Test Method: Cut 76 x 178 mm specimens from a production bonded assembly so that the bonded area is centered and parallel to the 178 mm dimension. Expose specimens in for 750 hrs. in the Weatherme
25、ter (per para 3.6.1). Prior to pulling, remove the sewing thread from all specimens. Partially separate the vinyl to vinyl bonds and the fabric to fabric/bonds at one end of each specimen by hand. Insert the loosened ends of each specimen 25 mm in the jaws of the mechanical tester. Pull specimens at
26、 a 180 peel angle at the rate of 305 mm/minute. 4.1.4 Waterproofness, min 675 kPa (ASTM D3393) No water leakage of the top material or bonded seam as received, after exposure in the Weathermeter (per para 3.6.1) for 750 hrs. and after exposure (on a separate specimen) in a mechanical convection oven
