SCOPE The material defined in this specification is a dark-red liqui
、d organic dye in a petroleum distillate and mineral oil base. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as an additive to diesel and gasoline engine crankcase oil for the purpose of oil leak detection. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIA
、LS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements for Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 COLOR 3.2.1 The material shall be a dark-red opaque liquid and shall visibly change the color of the engine oil when added at the correct concentration. Final co
、lor after addition will depend on the initial color of the engine oil. 3.2.2 Emission Maximum 530 - 540 nm (Any agreed method) 3.2.3 Color Strength When used at a rate between 500 and 2000 ppm, sufficient intensity shall be obtained for use with current plant ultraviolet leak detection equipment and
、 current production engine crankcase oil. 3.3 COMPATIBILITY (Any agreed method) The material shall be compatible with all current production engine crankcase oils and cause no internal damage to engine components when used at concentrations up to 2000 ppm. 3.4 MOISTURE Report (Any agreed method) 3.5 INSOLUBLE MATERIAL Report (Any agreed method) 3.6 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for initial approval may be subjected to a functional trial. Functional trial results shall be evaluated by engine and plant engineers prior to material approval and release.
