2、MPONENTS WSS-M99P23-C1 MATERIAL CONTROL, GRAY BOX COMPONENTS WSS-M99P23-C2 NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The requirements of these specifications apply to all classes of materials. 2. APPLICATION These specifications provide direction to the suppliers of black or gray box components regardi
3、ng the required material/process documentation. Black box components are defined for purposes of this standard as those which are supplied without modification to Ford Motor Company (“off-the-shelf“ designs). Ford must design all mating interfaces to accommodate a black box component, and accepts de
4、sign and material selection as is. Gray box components are defined for purposes of this standard as those which are jointly designed by the supplier and Ford Motor Company. Ford will direct the design or material selection for portions of a gray box component. Build-to-print components are defined f
5、or purposes of this standard as those which are designed by Ford Motor Company and manufactured by Ford or a supplier. Ford will direct the design and material selection for the whole of a build-to-print component. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers
6、 and part producers shall conform to the Companys Standard Requirements for Production Materials WSS-M99P1111-A. 3.2 MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION 3.2.1 Black Box Components WSS-M99P23-C1 All materials used at the end-item or serviceable component mating interface shall be defined on the Engineering Drawi
7、ng, using Industry Standards. If Industry Standards are not available, the material supplier source, trade name and product code should be used. All applicable process standards (e.g. heat treatment, anodizing, shot peening, etc.) shall be included in the list of materials defined on the Engineering
8、 Drawing. Detailed information on the content and format of materials information appearing on Engineering Drawings can be found in Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD & Drafting Standard E-1 Notes. 9、 2 of 3 For all other materials not identified on the Engineering Drawing, the supplier shall maintain a “Materials Document“ that lists all of the component parts including supplier part numbers and materials to be used for each part. The purpose of the “Materials Document“ is to provide ready acce
10、ss to this information should Ford become engaged in solving issues related to the component. Supplier material specifications or Industry Standards (e.g. ISO, ASTM, SAE, EN, BS or DIN) may be used. If a specification/standard is not available, list the material supplier source, trade name and produ
11、ct code. Generic terms such as “steel“, “oil“, “plastic“ or “rubber“ are not acceptable. The “Materials Document“ shall be included in the Initial Part Submission Warrant documentation. Ford Materials Engineering accepts the materials listed on the Engineering Drawing and the “Materials Document“ bu
12、t neither acknowledges nor approves the materials listed therein. Ford Materials Engineering does not review the “Materials Document“ prior to Engineering Drawing release but will review the materials listed on the Engineering Drawing to ensure interface compatibility, such as galvanic compatibility
13、 and proper bolted joint design, where necessary prior to Engineering Drawing release. 3.2.2 Gray Box Components WSS-M99P23-C2 All materials used at the end-item or serviceable component mating interface, corrosion protection finishes and/or coatings on all external surfaces, and all Ford-directed m
14、aterials shall be defined on the Engineering Drawing. Ford Material Specifications or Industry Standards may be used. If the preceding is not available, the material supplier source, trade name and product code should be used. All applicable process standards (e.g. heat treatment, anodizing, shot pe
15、ening, etc.) shall be included in the list of materials defined on the Engineering Drawing. Ford Materials Engineering does not review the “Materials Document“ prior to Engineering Drawing release, and neither acknowledges nor approves the materials listed therein. 3.3 RESTRI
20、CTED SUBSTANCE REPORTING Material suppliers and part producers shall report on the materials content of their products using the International Material Data System (IMDS). 21、23-C1/C2 Copyright 2013, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 3 of 3 3.4 PARTS MARKING All polymeric (plastic, elastomeric or synthetic fiber) parts shall be marked for recycling per Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD and Drafting Standard E-4. All non-ferrous metal (aluminum, magnesium or zinc) parts
22、 shall be marked for recycling per Ford Motor Company Engineering CAD and Drafting Standard E-5. (Not applicable for Ford of Europe and Premier Automotive Group brands.) 3.5 SUPPLIER SUBMISSIONS When requested, the supplier shall submit the “Material Document“, and/or production representative samples, for retention by the Design Activity and/or for evaluation by the affected Materials Engineering Office.
