This standard determines the evaluation of the performance of single stage (one-level) SteeringWheel Heating (SWH) -systems in the steering wheel assembly.1.2 Applicability. Applicable to all steering w

3、heel heating system types with one-level (single stage) control unit.1.3 Remarks. This standard shall measure the steering wheel heater mats temperature control behavior andheating characteristics during the heat-up curve (temperature over time) on single steering wheels in the climatechamber, on st

4、eering wheels in the vehicle in the climate chamber or on steering wheels in the vehicle duringdriving conditions (i.e., a road test).This standard shall also subjectively evaluate the steering wheel heating in the vehicle to determine the overallperformance rating, the Vehicle Technical Specificati

5、on and the customer needs.Note: Tests with a single steering wheel in a climate chamber are considered as a component test. Validationtests are conducted during the in-vehicle condition.Note: Tests shall be performed with a complete steering wheel with all add-on parts, e.g. wiring harness,switches,

6、 airbag-module etc.).Note: This Test Procedure is not suitable for initial heater mat sampling tests. Heater mats should consider therequirements described in GMW14095 and GMW14096.2 ReferencesNote: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified.2.1 External Standards/S

The test facilities and equipment shall be in good working order and shall have a validcalibration label.3.1.2 Alternatives. Alternative test facilities and equipment may also be

8、used. However, all measuring variablesas specified in this standard shall be determined correctly with respect to their physical definition.3.1.3 Test lab with a temperature test chamber. 13、system to measure the system voltage and current.3.2.6 Thermography camera (preferred) or infrared thermometer for the localization of the heating wires. Thethermography camera is required to perform the thermography picture of the heated surface distribution.3.2.7 External battery or transformer fo

14、r measurement computer power supply or adapter for onboard supplysystem.3.2.8 Timer or measurement computer timer function.3.3 Test Vehicle/Test Piece. A steering wheel heater mat, which shall be tested and evaluated in the steeringwheel and vehicle type for which it is intended. The vehicle electri

15、cal system shall be dimensioned for connectionof steering wheel heating.Note: If the same steering wheel heater mat is utilized for different steering wheel equipment and trim levels,the heater mat shall be evaluated and validated separately for each equipment level.3.4 Test Time. Test time is depen

16、dent upon the control design of the heater mat to be tested. 18、n hours: 10 h3.5 Test Required Information.3.5.1 The evaluation of the performance of the steering wheel heating system shall be performed in the orderdescribed in 3.5.1.1 thru 3.5.1.3.3.5.1.1 Climate chamber test with single steering wheels (component test).3.5.1.2 Vehicle test in the climate chamb

19、er or in comparable climate condition (driving operation preferred).3.5.1.3 Subjective evaluation during driving operation.3.5.2 No vehicle test shall be performed until the results from a single steering wheel test (component test) inthe climate chamber are not according to specification.3.5.3 A su

20、bjective evaluation of the steering wheel heating system in the vehicle during driving shall always bepreferred to an evaluation in the climate chamber.3.5.4 Comfort evaluations in the climate chamber can only serve development purposes.3.6 Personnel/Skills.3.6.1 Tester. It shall be pointed out that

21、, in order to achieve a relevant test result, a certain level of technicalevaluation is always a pre-condition for evaluations.The development of the steering wheel heating is performed by test engineers or lab technicians with propertraining to perform the steering wheel heating test procedure.3.6.

22、2 Comfort Evaluators. For subjective evaluation in the vehicle, additional evaluators shall be called in toform a representative customer group of at least eight (8) persons.3.6.3 Required Clothing. Without gloves.4 Procedure4.1 Preparation.4.1.1 Number of Temperature Measuring Points on the Steerin

23、g Wheel Surface.4.1.1.1 At least six (6) wire thermocouples shall be located on the heated surface shown in Figure 1.4.1.2 Location of Temperature Measuring Points on Steering Wheel and in Vehicle.4.1.2.1 Steering Wheel. Affix at least six (6) thermocouples (additional if requested) on the upholster

24、ed steeringwheel surface directly above the heating wire as shown in Figure 1 and described in Table 3.The thermocouples shall be fixed with self-adhesive fabric tape.Note: For the exact determination of heating wire location during steering wheel heating running (see Figure 2),perform a thermograph

25、y survey or measure surface temperature with an infrared temperature measuring unit.Should be a seam or stitches exist in the measurement area, then the temperature sensor shall be positionednext to this above the heating wire.4.1.2.2 (Vehicle) Interior Temperature. Install one (1) thermocouple in t

26、he (vehicle) interior, centered close tothe steering wheel. This thermocouple shall be used to measure the vehicle interior temperature.4.1.2.3 Ambient Temperature. Install one (1) thermocouple on the vehicle roof. This thermocouple shall beused to measure ambient (outside) temperature.GM EUROPE ENG

Install one (1) thermocouple directly on the heater wire near of thetemperature sensor. This thermocouple shall be used to obtain an information on th

28、e control response of theheater mat.4.1.3 Document Steering Wheel Surface Installation Positions.4.1.3.1 In order to have the ability of reproducing the test environment, the positions of the temperaturemeasuring points on the heater wire shall be documented by means of a photo (preferred) or a draw

29、ing.4.1.3.2 If several measurements are performed at the same steering wheel level, the measuring positions shallbe determined at the start of the measurement sequence. 31、onnect the Volt/Ampere measuring module between theheater mat and the vehicle power supply to measure the applied voltage and the current consumption of theheater mat.4.1.5 Conditioning of Steering Wheels before Testing. To assure a steady temperature of the steering wheelbefore starting the measure

Soak steeringwheel 6 h.4.1.5.3 Single steering wheel in the climate chamber. Soak steering wheel 2 h.4.2 Conditions.4.

34、2.1 Environmental Conditions.4.2.1.1 Steady State Temperature Measurement with Single Steering Wheel or a Vehicle in a ClimateChamber. When testing single steering wheels or a vehicle in a climate chamber, temperature of climatechamber shall be (+21 2) C.4.2.1.2 For Heat-up Curve Measurement with Si

35、ngle Steering Wheel or a Vehicle in a Climate Chamber.When testing single steering wheels or a vehicle in a climate chamber, temperature of climate chamber shall be(-10 2) C.4.2.1.3 For Heat-up Curve Measurement during Driving Evaluation.4.2.1.3.1 Ambient Outside Temperature. When testing a vehicle

36、outside, outside temperature should be in therange of (-10 3) C. When outside temperature is not in the range of (-10 3) C, the vehicle should be soakedin a climate chamber prior to the road test. When the vehicle should be soaked in climate chamber, outsidetemperatures shall be 0 C.4.2.1.3.2 Drivin

37、g Distance. Driving distance is variable and at the discretion of the Test Engineer.4.2.1.3.3 DrivingS. Driving speed shall conform to traffic and road condition.4.2.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Suchrequirements shall be specified

38、on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc.Note: Driving tests in combination with temperature measurements are only possible with minimal steeringmovements and not on a public road.4.3 Instructions.4.3.1 Pre-test.4.3.1.1 Validate Test Setup. After the thermocouples are installed on the

39、steering wheel and the measuringinstruments are connected, the Test Engineer shall perform a test of the measurement setup. The operation ofthe measurement equipment shall be validated, and the desired steering wheel position shall be adjusted basedon the test drive.In case of measurements without a

40、 car, the electrical architecture and performance shall be according theconditions in the vehicle.4.3.2 Measurement of Heating Performance.4.3.2.1 Measurement Equipment Recording of Steady State Temperature (regulation temperature) atRoom Temperature of Single Steering Wheels in a Climate Chamber.4.

41、3.2.1.1 Heater Mat with Single-Stage Temperature Control.4.3.2.1.1.1 Start measurement software on measurement computer.4.3.2.1.1.2 Start time measurement device and heater mat simultaneously.4.3.2.1.1.3 Hold climate chamber temperature and/or vehicle interior temperature constant at (+21 2) C durin

42、gtest.4.3.2.1.1.4 Turn off time measurement device, heater mat and measurement computer after 45 minutes. Heat-up curve measurement is complete.4.3.2.1.1.5 Take a thermography picture for analyzing the temperature distribution.4.3.2.2 Measurement Equipment Recording of Heating Performance of Single

43、Steering Wheels in aClimate Chamber.4.3.2.2.1 Heater Mat with Single-Stage Temperature Control.Note: Single-stage heater mat heat-up curve recording is performed for duration of 45 minutes.The external voltage supply, to use when not running in a vehicle, should be set to (14.0 0.2) V.4.3.2.2.1.1 St

45、 2) C to (+20 2) C in (20 3) minutes. Then holdclimate chamber temperature constant during test.4.3.2.2.1.4 After 45 minutes turn off time measurement device, heater mat, and measurement computer. Heat-up curve measurement is complete.4.3.2.2.1.5 Take a thermography picture for analyzing the tempera

46、ture distribution.4.3.2.3 Measurement Equipment Recording of Heating Performance in a Vehicle in the Climate Chamberor During Driving (Validation, Objective Evaluation).Note: No vehicle test shall be performed until the results from a single Steering Wheel test (component test) inthe climate chamber

47、 are according to specification.4.3.2.3.1 Heater Mat with Single-Stage Temperature Control.Note: Single-stage heater mat heat-up curve recording is performed for a duration of 45 minutes.4.3.2.3.1.1 Enter the climate chamber or Outdoor area for acclimatization of the test person.Acclimatization time

48、 2 minutes.4.3.2.3.1.2 Start measurement software on measurement computer.4.3.2.3.1.3 Start the vehicle engine (can also be done before the start of the measurement).4.3.2.3.1.4 The Test Engineer (Tester) shall sit on the driver seat in the vehicle. The test person shall adjust thesteering wheel acc

49、ording to his personal preferences.The test engineer (tester) should feel the individual steering wheel areas and shall be cover the differentmeasurement areas by hand but not the measuring points.4.3.2.3.1.5 Start time measurement device and heater mat simultaneously.4.3.2.3.1.6 Raise the vehicle interior temperature from (-10 2) C to (+20 3) C in (20 5) minutes. Holdvehicle interior temperature constant during test.Note: To avoid a falsification of the measurement results following points shall be considered: Air vents shall
