、.2 Alternatives. Alternative test facilities and equipment may also be used. However, all measuring variables as specified in this standard shall be determined correctly with respect to their physical definition. 3.2 Conditions. 3.2.1 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standar
、d shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 3.3 Safety. This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not propose to address all the safety problems associated with its use.
、 It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 3.4 Documentation. Samples of components or material released to this standard shall be tested for conformity with the r
、equirements of this standard and approved by the responsible GM Department prior to the start of delivery of production level components or materials. Any change to the component or material, e.g., design, function, properties, manufacturing process and/or location of manufacture requires a new rele
、ase of the product. It is the sole responsibility of the supplier to provide the customer, unsolicited, with documentation of any change or modification to the product/process, and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agreed to, the entire verification test shall be repeated and documented b

In some cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible GM department and the supplier. 4 Requirements and Procedure 4.1 Assembled Inside Diameter. A recommended gage is shown in Figure 1. Diameter of gage i
、ncreases in increments of 0.13 mm from a diameter substantially less than assembled ID of smallest spring to be measured, to a diameter at large end substantially greater than largest spring to be measured. The spring is allowed to slide over the smaller diameter increments until it reaches a diamet

Calculated Initial Tension: Calculated initial tension is the maximum theoretical “preload“ for a given coil diameter an
、d wire diameter that can be wound into the spring during the coiling operation. Minimum Initial Tension: Minimum initial tension is the lower limit of tolerance for the force value specified which is consistent with good manufacturing practices and is equivalent to 0.8 of the calculated initial tens
、ion. The measured initial tension of the actual spring should always exceed the specified minimum initial tension. Spring Force: Spring force is the load required to extend the spring 18mm. This is the total force of the spring and is the sum of the initial tension plus the load contributed by the s
、pring rate. Assembled ID (Inside Diameter): The inside diameter of a garter spring as assembled with the ends screwed tight (see Figure 5). 4.5 0$F 7t8& 6 (Wind Up). ! .8 7$%P 4Bd 3F8*8t 6d) .Bd .*%L62P E+7 DDF “7 9l6 F$ .
