、GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology EDS Engineering, GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Standards ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL Do Not Use on New Programs. Being Replaced by GMW8777 EDS-T-5238 ISSUED DATE: 1995. 03. 14 REVISED DATE: 2009. 01. 09 VERSION: 3 (Superceded) EDS-T-5238ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL P

、AGE: 1/35 ISSUED DATE: 1995. 03. 14 REVISED DATE: 2009. 01. 09 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Note: This standard may be applied only for current project (incl. T255 Program). It is Superceded for all future projects and replaced by GMW8777. PART 1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1. PURPOSE This test

、specification determines the requirements, test conditions and test method for the electric and physical function - and fatigue tests of electronic transmission controls used in the vehicle for automatic transmission. Basically, the technical delivery conditions EDS-T-5235 “electronic components in

、the motor vehicle, general requirements“ are valid for the control units. In part 1 of these technical delivery conditions, the general requirements, which must fulfill electronic transmission controls, are determined. Further requirements for the electronic transmission controls of different types

、of transmission and their components are determined in the following stated additional parts to these technical delivery conditions. 1.1. Part 1 a : Selector lever position switch 1.2. Part 1 b : Solenoid valve 1.3. Part 2 : Control for the 4 - speed - automatic transmission AW03 - 71 LE 1.4. Part 3

、 : Control for the 4 - speed - automatic transmission AF 14/20 1.5. Part 4 : Control for the 4 - speed - automatic transmission AR 25/35 2. REMARK Samples of material released to this specification shall be tested according to this spec. and approved by GMDAT TECHNICAL CENTER prior to the commenceme

、nt of this bulk supplies. In the event of any intentional deviation from the requirement of this spec., it is the sole responsibility of the supplier to submit the purchaser unsolicited the samples for reapproval by GMDAT TECHNICAL CENTER prior to the commencement of delivery of deviant bulk supplie

、s. Before the start of performance of routine tests and drive tests for the purpose of release, the manufacturer of control unit must propose a detailed operating description. 3. TEST SAMPLE AND TEST QUANTITY If nothing else is specified, 6 piece electronic transmission controls are to be delivered

、with a works test certificate to DIN 50049 - 23 for the first sampling and release test to this spec. It is expected that the characteristic quantities represent the tolerance range of production scattering width at the demanded test samples. If this supposition is not fulfilled by the test samples,

、 the tolerance ranges of production scattering width must be specified in the works test certificate, apart from the single values, for all required details. EDS-T-5238ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL PAGE: 2/35 ISSUED DATE: 1995. 03. 14 REVISED DATE: 2009. 01. 09 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technolo

、gy 4. PRETREATMENT If nothing else is specified at the individual tests, the tests are performed at +23 5K in the delivery condition without pretreatment. 5. TEST PROGRESS The tests are to be performed corresponding to the test plans in this test specification. The specified sequence is to be observ

、ed at the tests, because it is not secured that comparable results are obtained. 6. TEST APPARATUSES 6.1. Test apparatuses corresponding to the specified test method, test specifications, standards etc 6.2. Additional test apparatuses are specified in the further parts of this test specification. 7.

、 REQUIREMENTS 7.1. General requirements. 7.1.1. Materials All used materials must correspond to the drawing spec., and to the details in the releases. So far as plastic - or elastomer materials are used, these following resistances must show: 7.1.1.1. Resistance to protective wax EDS-M-8307. 7.1.1.2

、. Oil resistance to EDS-T-7418 - +)C2 #)+) All oils, with which the parts can come into contact during the normal operation. #) No injury in function, besides at plug connections max. volume change 5% 7.1.2. Visual - and dimensional test The dimensions and their tolerances determined in drawings and

、 releases must be observed by the individual components of system. 7.2. Requirements to EDS-T-5235 The requirements and tests specified in the EDS-T-5235 are no more stated separately in these technical delivery conditions. If deviations or supplements are necessary, then these test points are subse

、quently stated. 7.2.1. Operating voltage range Supplementarily valid: At supply voltages between 6 V and 9 V, the electronic transmission control may not cause any uncontrolled controlling of solenoid valve and of warning lamps. The complete function of system must be guaranteed from 9 V to 16 V. 7.

、2.2. Operating safety of electronic components EDS-T-5238ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL PAGE: 3/35 ISSUED DATE: 1995. 03. 14 REVISED DATE: 2009. 01. 09 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Supplementarily valid: 7.2.2.1. At forbidden or absurd combinations of input signals, the transmission must

、be switched on emergency operation according to specifications, in order to avoid safety - critical driving conditions. Error detection and indication by the warning lamp must correspond to the respectively valid specifications. 7.2.2.2. The manufacturer of control unit has to perform a fault tree a

、nalysis for the electronic control unit to DIN 25424 and has to transmit at latest at the delivery of first samples. At the analysis, especial single - and double failures of component parts are to be tested, which can lead to the undue controlling of one of the final stages without detection and in

、dication of fault. If single faults as result of analysis lead to undue controlling of a final stage, so the manufacturer has to submitted proposals as fast as possible, which stop this condition. Target is the fact, that the undue controlling of a final stage as sequence of single failure of someon

、e component is not possible at the final control unit, without this is indicated by the warning lamp. At changing gear shift during the development of instrument, the fault tree analysis is to be realized and to be made known again. 7.3. Self - diagnosis 7.3.1. The electronic transmission control mu

、st be equipped with a self - diagnosis system corresponding to EDS-T-5108. 7.3.2. Deviating from EDS-T-5108 it is valid: System interference is indicated by signaling the warning lamp. The communication between control unit and tester through the serial cutting site is also indicated by signaling th

、e warning lamp. 7.4. Operational description The electronic transmission control carries out the controlling of a motor vehicle automatic transmission with several step of gear. It determines the gear to be put in and so the gear ratio of transmission. Besides, the control unit operates a converter

、bridging coupling. Both the shift points and the gear shifts are adapted to the respective driving - and operating condition of the vehicle. The driver has to select the possibility under different driving programs. He can determine the fact, whether the transmission is controlled power - and consum

、ption optimized. On smooth roadway, the transmission control makes possible a starting in a higher step of gear. This so - called winter mode is selected by driver by operating the winter button. Under definite conditions the control unit resets the winter mode independently. At automatic transmissi

、ons, at which the possibility is existing, to control the hydraulic transmission pressure, this problem is taken over by the electronic transmission control. By adjusting the pressure, both the shift quality and the shift time can be influenced. A cutting site at ignition control unit makes possible

、 an engine engagement, that is, an influence of ignition point. The adjustment of ignition causes a reduction of engine speed during the gear shifts. Besides, the control unit controls a relay, that disconnects the air - conditioner. In this way the air - conditioner can be disconnected as load, whe

、n the complete engine performance is required. Central unit of transmission control is the electronic control unit. It contains a microprocessor, in which a determined program is overworked. The vehicle velocity and the load condition of engine must be led to the electronic control as essential cont

、rol parameter. The drivers program desire as well as the selector lever position are coded through electric switch, and so evaluated by control unit. EDS-T-5238ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL PAGE: 4/35 ISSUED DATE: 1995. 03. 14 REVISED DATE: 2009. 01. 09 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Furth

、er input signals are possible. The cutting site at transmission form electro hydraulic final control elements (solenoid valves), which engage either as pure shift valve or as regulating valve into the hydraulics of transmission. The control unit software contains monitoring functions that prevent sa

、fety - critical driving conditions or overspeeding of engine at interference or wrong operation. Interference is indicated to the driver through a warning lamp, and the fault is coded, accumulated by control unit. The control unit is equipped with a bidirectional diagnosis cutting position to EDS-T-
