、4. 08. 31 REVISED DATE: 2006. 06. 19 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology 1. SCOPE This test method applies to determining the indentation hardness of plastics and also to testing hard rubbers. 2. DEFINITION 2.1. Indentation hardness: The index between the test load and penetration area when apply
、ing the test load to the plastic test piece for a given time by using a spherical penetrator of a specified size. 3. TEST PIECES AND NUMBER OF TEST PIECES 3.1. Test pieces shall have plane surfaces with the upper and lower machined parallel, and the each side shall be at least 20 mm and the thicknes
、s shall be (40.5) mm. 3.2. For initial sample approval and arbitration, at least 5 test pieces shall be tested. And for routine quality control, at least 3 test pieces shall be used. In both cases, the test shall be conducted three times per one test piece. 4. CONDITIONING Perform conditioning accor
、ding to the requirements specified in the drawing or material standard. Unless otherwise specified, conduct the test under the condition of 232K in temperature and (505)% in relative humidity for at least 16 hrs. 5. APPARATUS 5.1. Hardness tester (see Fig. 1) The one which can measure linear deforma
、tion by penetration up to 0.01 mm and incase of penetration deformation up to 0.4 mm, and apply an initial load of 9.81 N and other test loads of 49.0, 132, 358 and 961 N within a tolerance of 1%. 8、uct test under the condition of +232K in temperature and (505)% in relative humidity. 6.1. Put the test piece on the table of the penetration measuring device in the perpendicular direction to the load applied and gradually apply the initial load to the test piece and after 5 seconds set the penetra
、tion indicator to the zero point. 6.2. Right after calibration, apply a test load uniformly within 2 seconds. As for the test load, it shall be selected among the test loads in 5.1, which generate linear deformation by penetration within the range of 0.150.35 mm. 6.3. Record the distance of penetrat
、ion indicated by the penetration indicator after 30 seconds to the nearest 0.01 mm. In case of measuring of the distance of penetration after 10 or 60 seconds, it shall be agreed upon before the test. 6.4. The test shall be carried out three times per one test piece 5 mm apart from the edges of the
、test piece and the tested area. 7. EVALUATION 7.1. Penetration hardness is H = ESISFr = IIS&+ Where, Fr = Reduced test load (N) d = Diameter of the ball of the penetrator (mm) h = Penetration distance (mm) hr = Reduced penetration distance 0.25 mm) 7.2. Calculate penetration hardness with measured p
、enetration distance based on the conversion table, Table 1. 8. EXPRESSION OF RESULTS Measured penetration hardness shall be taken from the arithmetical mean value of each test result and presented in N/mm2and to the nearest 0.1 N/mm2.
