3、1.1 Purpose. This standard specifies the test method for measuring the hardness of industrial water. 1.2 Applicability. This test method applies to measuring total hardness, calcium hardness, magnesium hardness, carbonate hardness and non-carbonate hardness of industrial water. 2 References Note: On

None 3 Resources 3.1 Equipment. 3.1.1 Erlenmeyer Flask. The one with a capacity of 250 ml, made of glass. 3.1.

Dissolve 1 g of eriochrome black T (C20H12O7M3SNa) into 30 ml of water and add sodium carbonate (NaCO3) solution (30 g/ ) to adjust pH at 10.5. Regulate the total volume to 100 ml adding ethylalcoh

9、ol (95 %) or methylalcohol and stir before plugging and storage it in a brown glass bottle. 3.2.3 0.01M EDTA Reference Solution. 3.2.3.1 Dissolve exactly 3.722 g of disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetate (NA2 H2 EDTA) in water after drying it at 80 E for 5 hours and cooling it in a desiccator. Trans

10、fer the solution into a volumetric flask (1000 ml) and regulate the total amount to 1000 ml. 1 ml of this solution corresponds to 1mg of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). 3.2.3.2 Dissolve 4 g of disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetate in 800 ml of water and adjust it to pH 10.5 using NaOH (50 g/l) solution.

11、 Based on calcium chloride reference solution (1 ml = 0.2 mg CaCO3), make 1 ml of this solution correspond to 1 mg of CaCO3 by diluting. Reference solution shall be kept in a polyethylene plastic or light rubber bottle and used by occasionally reregulating its level. 3.2.3.3 Using one of the above m

12、ethods, use the selected solution as a 0.01M EDTA reference solution. 3.2.4 Potassium Cyanide Solution. Dissolve 10 g of potassium cyanide (KCN) in 100 ml of water. 3.2.5 Pulverize 0.5 g of calconcarboxylic acid 2-hydroxy-1-(2-hydroxy-4-sulfo-1- naphthylazo) naphthalene-3-carboxylic acid and 50 g of

13、 sodium sulfate unhydrous Na2SO4) to mix homogeneously and preserve it in a colored bottle. 3.2.6 Dissolve about 225 g of Potassium Hydroxide in 500 ml of water to make potassium hydroxide solution and preserve it in a polyethylene bottle. 3.2.7 Dissolve 10 g of hydroxyl amine hydrochloride (NH2OHHC

14、L) in 100 ml of water. 4 Procedures 4.1 Conditions. 4.1.1 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4.2 Instructions. 4.2.1 Total Hardness. 4.2.1.1 Fill

17、t where the red color changes into blue as the end point after titration with a 0.01M EDTA reference solution. 4.2.2 Calcium Hardness. 4.2.2.1 Decant 50 ml of sample into the 250 ml erlenmeyer flask and add 4ml of potassium hydroxide to it and stir. Leave the stirred solution for 3 ) 5 minutes. 4.2.

18、2.2 Add potassium cyanide and hydroxyl amine hydrochloride, 0.3 ml each, to the solution and stir. Add about 0.1 g of calcium agent to it. 4.2.2.3 Calculate the calcium hardness by taking the point where the red color changes into blue as the end point after titrating with 0.01M EDTA reference solut

Magnesium Hardness: The value representing the amount of magnesium contained in industrial water as a corresponding PPM of calcium car

27、bonate. Carbonate Hardness: The hardness indicated by carbonate and hydrogen carbide of calcium and magnesium. Non-Carbonate Hardness: The hardness indicated by other substances than carbonate and hydrogen carbide of calcium and magnesium, such as sulfate, chloride, and nitrate. 7.2 Acronyms, Abbrev
