、 standard and location of the part in the vehicle. 3.4 Additional Requirements. 3.4.1 Material Documentation Requirement. All materials used shall be noted on the part drawings or math data. Materials shall be called out on the part drawing or in the math data by a standard. Accepted standards are:

、GMW standards International industry standards In the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation, the material used shall be documented to its original manufacturers name, trade name and product code as well as the GM drawing callout. Note: Any material change (even within a drawing callo

、ut) requires notification of GM and may require a new PPAP. 3.4.1.1 Material Callout by External Standards. Use of internationally recognized standards, such as ISO, is generally accepted. For several material categories, callouts by other international standards organizations, such as SAE Internati

、onal, ASTM International, EN (Europe), JIS (Japan), DIN (Germany), etc., are accepted. In these cases, always check with GM Materials Engineering for compliance. If an ISO or a GM standard exists for the material, it shall be used in preference to other organizational standards. The callout in the d

、rawing or in the math data must conform to the coding described in the called out standard. If the standard describes more than one material grade, the code for the grade must be noted on the drawing or in the math data. Note: Only material specifications or standards which are available as official

、 English versions can be used. 3.4.1.2 Material Callout by GM Standards. Material callouts by GM Worldwide, i.e.,“GMW” standards, are preferred. For several material categories, a callout to GM regional standards, such as GMP (North America), QK (Europe), HN (Holden), EDS (Korea), etc., are also acc

If the standard describes more than one material grade, the code for the required grade must be noted on the drawing or in the math data. Some material

、categories describe special requirements (such as ultraviolet (UV) stability, high impact or heat stability) with additional codes not identified in the material standard but other documentation. If such requirements apply to the part, it is the responsibility of the part supplier to contact GM in a

、 timely manner for the applicable additional codings for the math model or drawing callout. In regions where MATSPC is used as the GM Material File, compliance with paragraph 3.4.2 is required. In regions where MATSPC is not used, approved source data (GM Material File) is managed by the regional GM

、 Materials Engineering organization. 3.4.2 GM Material File. GM Engineering Standards, referring to material callouts, may contain a reference to approved sources such as “ listed in the GM Material s File ”, or, “. listed in MATSPC.”. 35、 then the supplier needs to reference the MATSPC/APOPS or Appearance Database applications in the GM SupplyPower portal for the approved sources. See Appendix A for GM Material File locations and contacts. 3.4.2.1 It is the responsibility of the part supplier to determine if the material for the sup

、pliers application is listed in the applicable GM Material file. If the material is not listed, the supplier shall request that the suppliers material source (raw material supplier) adds the GM Material File entry in time (prior to PPAP). GM Materials Engineering will give support for new entries un

If the material is not listed in the GM Material File at PPAP, the part supplier will be required to validate his material according to the called out GM Material Specification and provide

、 certification for this material. 3.4.2.2 Certification Requirements (Applicable to Raw Material Suppliers). For plastics materials, a certification statement to GMW3013 to the relevant GM Material Specification is required. For other materials, contact GM Materials Engineering for details. 3.4.3 GM

、 Approved Combinations (Approved Paints on Plastic Substrates (APOPS). If stated in the relevant GM standard, any combination of materials called out by GM Standard on the part drawing or in the math data must be listed in the GM Material Combination File (APOPS) at PPAP. For APOPS, the supplier of

、the combination is required to provide specific material and process data (Certification Package) to GM Materials Engineering. This data can partly replace the otherwise required validation according to the material combinations Performance Specification (see paragraph 3.4.4). 3.4.3.1 It is the resp

、onsibility of the part supplier to identify in GM SupplyPower () whether the combination in scope for his application is listed in APOPS. If the combination is not listed, the supplier must ensure that specific material and process data (Certification Package) is provided in time to achieve the APOP

、S approval prior to PPAP. GM Materials Engineering will support new entries provided the material combination dependent certification requirements are met by the parts or materials suppliers. If the combination is not listed in APOPS at PPAP, the part supplier will be required to validate his materi

Note: The used materials in the combination may require MATSPC entry prior to APOPS entry (example: Plastic Substrates in a Paint System). See Appendix A for GM Combination File locations and

、 contacts. 3.4.3.2 Certification Requirements (Applicable to APOPS). For painted or coated materials, a certification statement to GMW14797 to the relevant GM Material Specification is required. For other materials, contact GM Materials Engineering for details. 3.4.4 Material Related Part Performanc

、e. Dependent on the material category, material performance requirements apply as described in this section. Refer also to Table 1. 3.4.4.1 All materials shall be resistant to other materials (such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, fuels, lubricants, oils, greases and alcohols) they contact in

、 their application. 3.4.4.2 Adhesives Bonding Requirements. Components or assemblies that contain adhesive bonds, structural and non-structural, will require documentation for the bonding process. The process details required in the documentation are given in the specification GMW15625 (Adhesive App

、lication Approval Requirements). To obtain a copy of the specification, or for question regarding application, consult the appropriate GM Materials Engineer. See Appendix A for GM Material File locations and contacts. 3.4.4.3 Paint, Coating, or Plating Finishes. The use of paint, coating, or plating

、 finishes shall apply to one of the performance requirements in Table 2. 3.4.5 Nominated Materials. In regions where there are no legal constraints to this process, GM may select the appropriate materials from strategic material categories according to the specific part requirements under considerat

、ion of function, performance and appearance. This may include the selection of the drawing/math data callout as well as the nomination of the raw material supplier for parts or complete areas of the vehicle. These nominations will be published by an Information Letter in GM SupplyPower. The part supplier is required to use these nominated raw materials in the parts supplied to GM. Note: See Appendix B for instructio
