2、regulations. Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 1.1 Purpose. Determination of the dynamic strength in a bench test. 1.2 Foreword. Not applicable. 1.3 Applicability. For all pipe connections of mufflers, catalytic conv

3、erters, diesel particulate filters and connecting flanges. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. None 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. None 2.3 Additional References. CTS/part drawing 3 Resources 3.1 Fa

4、cilities. Force controlled test bench with closed control loop, travel sensor and cycle counter. The test device shall be suitable for dynamic forces of (100 to 2000) N with regard to a test frequency range of (10 to 20) Hz (sine). The test facility shall have a valid ISO certificate which is noted

5、in a test report. 3.2 Equipment. 3.2.1 Peak Value Recorder. Peak Value Recorder to automatically record the oscillation amplitude, with automatic shut-off for the testing machine when the oscillation amplitude exceeds the adjusted limiting values. 3.2.2 Attachment of Test Piece. 3.2.2.1 Attachment o

6、f Flange. The flange shall be attached on a rigid fixing device without gasket with regard to bolted joint specified by drawing. The connection shall be such that pipe connection/welded joint of the flange is not impaired. The force application shall ensure the malleability of the pipe. The force sh

7、all be located according to paragraph 3.2.2.2. 3.2.2.2 Attachment of Mufflers, Catalytic Converters and Diesel Particulate Filters. The test piece shall be mounted such that the pipe connection is not impaired (see Figure 1). The force application shall ensure the malleability of the pipe. A link wi

8、th a U-joint at the ends shall be installed between load cell and force application. Ma = The tightening torque of clamping claw shall be selected in such a way that the pot casing is neither deformed nor impaired. L = The length of force application measured from

11、load cell connection to the center of pipe connection shall be 150 mm minimum. 3.3 Test Vehicle/Test Piece. At least 5 new production parts shall be tested for each pipe connection / type. The parts shall be produced as specified by assembly drawing. The pipe length shall be 200 mm, however 300 mm m

12、easured from pipe welding joint. Pipe connections shall be extended with a pipe as specified by drawing, if necessary. To the correct lug-in depth, tightening torque of the production clip shall be ensured, in order to guarantee a defined rigidity at the connection point. Conditioning of parts, if a

13、pplicable, shall be taken from the CTS/part drawing. 3.4 Test Time. Not applicable. 3.5 Test Required Information. Not applicable. Not applicable. 4 Procedure 4.1 Preparation. 4.1.1 Test Setup. The test setup shall be performed using the direction of force application determined f

15、rom the strain collectives for the respective vehicle type and motorization, which is indicated in the CTS/drawing specification. 4.2 Conditions. 4.2.1 Environmental Conditions. The test shall be performed at (+23 5) C ambient room temperature. 4.2.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements

16、 of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4.3 Instructions. The strength test shall be performed as a single-step test. 4.3.1 Test torque, test frequency, cycles of failure (N 90%), and maximum permissi

17、ble dispersion (N 90% / N 10%) can be taken from the CTS/drawing specification. Mb = FP X in Nm = Test torque FP = Test force at test piece F = (FT + FP) = Test force at load cell, measured from load cell connection to pipe connection. At the dynamic test it is determined by the dynamic mass flow an

18、d shall be taken into account. FT = Inertia force of test device 4.3.2 Shut-off criterion at this test is the increase of the oscillation amplitude or test frequency which automatically shuts-off the testing machine as soon as the adjusted limiting values are exceeded. 4.3.3 The limiting values shal

19、l be 110% maximum of the actual amplitude measured at the beginning of the test. 4.3.4 If no first visible cracks occur, the test may be stopped at N 10 % value as specified by CTS/drawing specification. A test protocol according to Appendix A shall be used for recording of test data and results and

20、 shall be added to a test report after the test. 5 Data 5.1 Calculations. In order to obtain reliable results for the number of cycles to first visible cracks/fracture determined in the endurance strength range in comparison to the N 90% value required on CTS/drawing specification, it is necessary t

21、o evaluate them according to the statistical method of fatigue life probability to the logarithmic normal distribution. The results determined

24、shall be compared with the CTS/component drawing and evaluated accordingly. 5.3 Test Documentation. The test results shall be added to a test report as specified in paragraph 5.3.1 through 5.3.4 and paragraph 5.1. 5.3.1 Test Piece Description. Part name and number, development state, date of manufac

25、ture, drawing number, drawing date. 5.3.2 Summary of Test Results and Evaluation. Briefly evaluation of test results (OK, NOK), test specification and if required deviations, comparison of results with CTS/drawing specifications. 5.3.3 Test Description. Description of test bench with photograph, bri

26、ef description, description of used test set-up, calibration of testing equipment, initial cracking criterion and detection, load cell, force application mass measured from load cell connection, ISO certificate of test facility. 5.3.4 Documentation of Individual Results. Test load, travel amplitude

27、of test cylinder, test direction, test frequency, number of cycles for initial cracks, position and photograph of initial cracks, logarithmic characteristic data. At least one test piece shall be cut for each type in such a way, so that the interior structure can be recognized clearly. 6 Safety This
