2、edes applicable laws and regulations. Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 1.1 Scope. This standard serves to determine the aging characteristics of polymer interior components which are subject to increased safety requ

3、irements in the vehicle, e.g. airbag deployment. This test serves only as a preparation for safety tests, e.g., airbag deployment. It does not represent an element of routine testing or production-related tests. The application of this test to complex assemblies or entire vehicles makes it possible

4、to establish the interactions between various materials within a component or between several components. 1.2 Mission/Theme. By comparing the impact resistance prior to and following accelerated aging, the changes in characteristics caused thereby permit an appraisal of the behavior of the polymer c

5、omponents during use. 1.3 Classification. Not applicable. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. None 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GMW3059 GMW14093 3 Test Preparation and Evaluation 3.1 Resources. 3.

6、1.1 Calibration. The test facilities and equipment shall be in good working order and shall have a valid calibration label. 3.1.2 Alternatives. Alternative test facilities and equipment may also be used. However, all measuring variables as specified in this standard shall be determined correctly wit

7、h respect to their physical definition. 3.1.3 Facilities. Not applicable. 3.1.4 Equipment. 3.1.4.1 Climatic chamber. 3.1.4.2 Equipment according to GMW14093. 3.1.5 Test Vehicle/Test Piece. The finished component shall be tested. 3.1.6 Test Time. Not applicable. 3.1.7 Test Required Information. Not a

8、pplicable. 3.1.8 Personnel/Skills. Not applicable. 3.2 Preparation. The test piece shall be installed as in production or fixed in such a manner that no conditions deviating from practical in-vehicle conditions may occur and shall be subjected to the test cycles outlined in paragraph 3.3.1. 10、ons. 3.3.1 Environmental Conditions. 3.3.1.1 Cyclic Storage. Storage shall consist of 3 cycles of the appropriate storage conditioning., Select the cycle from the following 3 options, based on type of plastic. 3.3.1.1.1 Standard aging conditions for all plastic parts except parts made of ABS, ABS+PA

11、-blends, thermoplastic polyesters (PBT, PET) and their blends as well as thermoplastic polyester-elastomers (TEEE). a. (120 1) h at (+110 3) C and 30 % relative humidity b. (24 1) h at (+40 3) C and (95 3) % relative humidity c. (24 1) h at (-30 3) C 3.3.1.1.2 Aging conditions for all plastic parts

12、made of ABS and ABS+PA-blends. a. (480 5) h at (+90 3) C and 30 % relative humidity b. (24 1) h at (+40 3) C and (95 3) % relative humidity c. (24 1) h at (-30 3) C 3.3.1.1.3 Aging conditions for all plastic parts made of thermoplastic polyesters (PBT, PET) and their blends as well as thermoplastic

13、polyester-elastomers (TEEE). a. (120 1) h at (+110 3) C and 30 % relative humidity b. (24 1) h at (-30 3) C 3.3.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, et

14、c. 3.4 Instructions. 3.4.1 Impact. Prior to the test, it shall be ensured that the moisture content required by the specification is maintained in the polyamide test pieces (except PA11 and PA12) aged in accordance with paragraph 3.3.1. These shall be reconditioned where necessary. Impact resistance

15、 shall be determined after the cyclic storage according to GMW14093 2. Examine test pieces visually, without enhancements (such as microscope, etc.). 3.5 Data. 3.5.1 Report breakage or cracks. 3.5.2 Report impact resistance. 3.5.3 Report color or shape changes. 3.6 Safety. This standard may involve

16、hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not propose to address all the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitati

17、ons prior to use. 3.7 Documentation. Samples of components or material released to this standard shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this standard and approved by the responsible GM Department prior to the start of delivery of production level components or materials. Any change

18、to the component or material, e.g., design, function, properties, manufacturing process and/or location of manufacture requires a new release of the product. It is the sole responsibility of the supplier to provide the customer, unsolicited, with documentation of any change or modification to the pr

19、oduct/process, and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agreed to, the entire verification test shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to start of delivery of the modified or changed product. In some cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible GM department

20、 and the supplier. 3.7.1 Test Results. 22、kage or cracks. The test pieces shall be examined with the naked eye. 4.1.2 Requirement to impact resistance: GMW14093 - 2 is 2.5 J. minimum The impact resistance test serves only to avoid costly safety tests with components in which the material is destroyed. It does not replace the safety tests th

23、emselves. 4.1.3 Slight changes in color or shape are acceptable. Such changes shall be defined based on borderline samples as necessary. 4.2 Further Requirements. The aging resistance of polymeric components shall be indicated with reference to this Test Procedure as specified on the relevant engine

24、ering drawings, material specifications, etc., based on fulfillment of the safety tests. 5 Provisions for Shipping Not applicable. 6 Notes 6.1 Glossary.
