This specification covers the performance requirements for an adhesive or adhesive system suitable for bonding thermoset plastics, Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) and Structural Reaction Injection Molded (SRIM) in exterior applications. 1.2 Typical Applications. Samples of components or material released to this standard shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this standard and approved by the responsible GM Department prior to the sta
12、rt of delivery of production level components or materials. Any change to the component or material, e.g., design, function, properties, manufacturing process and/or location of manufacture requires a new release of the product. It is the sole responsibility of the supplier to provide the customer,
13、unsolicited, with documentation of any change or modification to the product/process, and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agreed to, the entire verification test shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to start of delivery of the modified or changed product. In some cases
14、, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible GM department and the supplier. 3.7.1 Test Results. Report the following: 3.7.1.1 The average lap-sheer and side impact strength along with standard deviation of each sample set. 3.7.1.2 The average wedge failure initiation energy and failure
15、 propagation energy along with standard deviation of each sample set. 3.7.1.3 The failure mode and strength (or energy) of each specimen according to ASTM D5573. 3.7.2 Deviations from This Standard. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shal
16、l be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4 Requirements and Procedure 4.1 Physical Properties (Uncured Adhesive System). The adhesive and bonding method must be compatible with production systems. 4.2 Physical Properties/Requirements (Cured Adhesive System). 4.2.1 Paint
17、 Compatibility. The adhesive system must be compatible with the proposed paint systems and processes. 4.2.2 Process Compatibility. The cured adhesive system must meet all performance criteria specified in this standard (see 3.3) after going through the production process for the intended application
18、. 4.2.3 Lap Shear and Side Impact Samples. 4.2.3.1 Specimens shall be prepared according to the procedure outlined in ASTM D3163. Caution: Cure must be compatible with the intended plant cure schedule. This includes initial cure and oven exposures at the sub-assembler as well as the GM assembly plan
19、t. 4.2.3.2 A sample set shall consist of a minimum of 5 specimens. 4.2.3.3 Lap shear specimens shall be tested according to the procedure outlined in ISO 4587. 4.2.3.4 Side impact specimens shall be tested according to the procedures outlined in ISO 11343. 4.2.3.5 All samples must demonstrate cohesi
20、ve failure within the adhesive or fiber tear of the substrate in all test conditions. Adhesive failure is not acceptable unless otherwise stated. 4.2.3.6 Substrate fracture, below minimum performance requirements (3.3), is to be considered a no-test condition, and the test repeated or sample rejecte

22、4.2.3.7 Environmental Conditioning. 4.2.3.7.1 Two (2) sample sets shall be maintained at room conditions 23 C 2 C and will be referred to as initial. 4.2.3.7.2 Two (2) sample sets will be equilibrated to -30 C. 4.2.3.7.3 Four (4) sample sets shall be exposed to water soak at 54 C for a period of 7 d
23、ays. For sets tested wet, test within 15 minutes of removal from water. 4.2.3.7.4 Two (2) sample sets shall be exposed to the cycle as described in GMW14124 (Cycle G, 30 cycles; 6 weeks). 4.2.3.7.5 Two (2) sample sets shall be exposed to the cycle described in GMW15288 (20 cycles; 4 weeks). 4.2.3.7.
24、6 Two (2) sample sets shall be exposed to condensing humidity at 38 C for 8 weeks (GMW14729). 4.2.3.7.7 Two (2) sample sets shall be aged at 70 C for 8 weeks. 4.2.3.7.8 One (1) sample set shall be equilibrated at 82 C. 29、 the procedure outlined in ASTM D5041, Section 7. Plaques shall be 101 mm x 152 mm x 2.5 mm. Bond area shall be 101 mm x 51 mm. Bond gap shall be 0.8 mm 0.25 mm. Caution: Cure must be compatible with the intended plant cure schedule. This includes initial cure and oven exposures at the sub-assembler
30、 as well as the GM assembly plant. 4.2.4.2 A sample set shall consist of a minimum of 5 specimens. 4.2.4.3 Wedge specimens shall be tested according to procedure outlined in ASTM D5041 except use a 60 degrees wedge. 4.2.4.4 Environmental Conditioning. 4.2.4.4.1 One (1) sample set shall be maintained
31、 at room conditions 23 C 2 C and will be referred to as initial. 4.2.4.4.2 One (1) sample set shall be equilibrated at 82 C. 4.2.4.5 Wedge Requirements. 33、ns. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendations valid in the country of usage. 7.2 Language. In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 7.3 Inspection and Rejection. Samples of components or m
34、aterials released to a GM material specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this material specification and approved by the responsible Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g., prope
35、rties, manufacturing process, location of manufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, all testing and documentation normally required for initial release must be completed. It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and to include documen
36、tation of all modifications of materials and/or processes and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agreed, all release tests shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to commencement of delivery of non-conforming bulk supplies. In individual cases, a shorter test can be agreed t
37、o between the responsible Engineering department and the supplier. 7.4 Initial Source Approval. No shipments shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by the appropriate Materials Engineering department(s) as meeting the requirements of this spe
38、cification. 7.5 Material Safety Data Sheets/Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS). For new product submissions, or when a change in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet must be submitted in compliance with the Globally
