This specification covers the properties of a polyester low density Sheet Molding Compound (SMC), reinforced with 15% carbon fiber and 30% glass fibers, all are randomly oriented and 25 mm in length. The cured material shall have a density of 1.4 g/cm3 maximum. 1.2 Symbols. Not applicable

5、s shall be conducted using the latest issue of the test methods indicated. Suitable precautions should be taken to ensure that applicable safe limits are not exceeded when conducting test procedures, processes, and/or handling the materials required by this specification. 3.1.1 Properties shall be d
6、etermined using test specimens router cut from SMC test plaques. Plaques shall be molded as shown in Appendix A, Figure A1. Plaques shall be molded using the mold temperatures, mold pressure and cure cycle that will be used to mold production parts. Each material vendor shall define these molding co
7、nditions in this certifiable data package. The length and width of the test mold, as well as the gate configuration, shall be included in the certification package. Plaques shall be 2.5 mm 0.1 mm thick. Weight variation between plaques shall not exceed 3.0%. 3.1.2 Raw materials used for compounding
8、shall be within their vendor defined shelf life. Plaques shall be molded 7 days maximum after compounding. Plaques shall be uniform in appearance and free from blisters, pregels, knit lines, cracks, and surface contamination. Porosity shall be one pit maximum per 625 mm2. Surfaces shall also be free
9、 of external mold release. (Mold and scrap a minimum of three plaques after using external mold release). 3.1.3 An equal number of specimens shall be cut from both the longitudinal and transverse plaque directions for each mechanical property. The specimens shall be tested and the results averaged.
10、The average value is the material property value. This value is compared to the required value shown in Table 1. Individual specifications for the mate

Incoming materials shall be approved to those specifications by the molders laboratory before release for production. Test results shall be maintained by the molder and be available for GM review. 3.3 Suggested Compo

The molding compound shall be identified by the specification code,
20、the manufacturers identification code and lot number, along with any additional vehicle group and component division requirements. 4 Manufacturing Process Not applicable. 5 Rules and Regulations 5.1 Legal Regulations. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendations
21、 valid in the country of usage. 5.2 Language. In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 5.3 Inspection and Rejection. Samples of components or materials released to a GM material specification shall be tested for conformity with t
22、he requirements of this material specification and approved by the responsible Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g., properties, manufacturing process, location of manufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, a
23、ll testing and documentation normally required for initial release must be completed. It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and to include documentation of all modifications of materials and/or processes and to apply for a new relea
24、se. If not otherwise agreed, all release tests shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to commencement of delivery of non-conforming bulk supplies. In individual cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible Engineering department and the supplier. 5.4 Initial Source
25、Approval. No shipments shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by the appropriate Materials Engineering department(s) as meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.5 Material Safety Data Sheets/Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS). For new pro
26、duct submissions, or when a change in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet must be submitted in compliance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) requirements or ot
27、her country-specific MSDS/SDS requirements. In addition, product MSDS/SDS submissions must be in compliance with specific country General Motors TMC003 Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet guidance documents where available. 5.6 All materials supplied to this standard must comply with the re
