This standard covers the properties of polypropylene, homopolymer or copolymer, that are in-line compounded with long glass fiber reinforcement and injected into a mold or extruded directly into a compression molding process. 1.2 Symbols. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is PP GFXX
3、 . The symbol shall be completed by the supplier according to the Glass Fiber (GF) content of the material. 1.3 Typical Applications. Typical applications include underbody panels, chassis shields and splash shields. 1.4 Remarks. Classifications are grouped according to the different ranges of glass

6、tics. 3.1 Requirements on Delivery. The physical, mechanical and thermal properties that characterize the material are summarized in Table 1. Note: The requirements in Table 1 shall be documented for self-certification of the product according to GMW3013. The color shall be specified on drawings, in
7、 material specifications, and otherwise. 3.1.1 Requirements on Test Specimens. Unless otherwise specified, all specimens for test shall be obtained from compression-molded plaques with a thickness of (2.5 0.5) mm. All tests shall be performed on specimens 40 h minimum after molding and immediately f
8、ollowing a conditioning period of 24 h minimum in a controlled atmosphere per GMW3221, Code A, unless otherwise specified. All tests shall be performed on unannealed specimens. Five (5) coupons minimum shall be tested. The average value is the material property value. 3.1.2 Chemical Requirements. Al
9、l parts manufactured from molding compounds shall be resistant to the media they contact at their place of use. 3.2 Requirements on Materials. See Table 1. All finished parts for Interior applications shall meet the requirements according to GMW14444 and GMW14651. All
11、finished parts for Exterior applications shall meet the requirements according to GMW14650. All finished parts for Engine Compartment applications shall meet the requirements according to GMW15725. 3.4 Compound Properties. The following are also required for full specification approval, with a minim
12、um of one lot per required test: Poissons Ratio, Stress Strain Curve at +23 C, +85 C, -30 C; DSC Curve; and Infrared Spectroscopy Curve. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendations valid in the country of
16、 usage. 5.2 Language. In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. Samples of components or materials released to a GM material specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this
18、 material specification and approved by the responsible Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g., properties, manufacturing process, location of manufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, all testing and document
19、ation normally required for initial release must be completed. It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and to include documentation of all modifications of materials and/or processes and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise ag
20、reed, all release tests shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to commencement of delivery of non-conforming bulk supplies. In individual cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible Engineering department and the supplier. 5.4 Material Safety Data Sheets/Safety Dat
21、a Sheets (MSDS/SDS). For new product submissions, or when a change in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet must be submitted in compliance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Ch
22、emicals (GHS) requirements or other country-specific MSDS/SDS requirements. In addition, product MSDS/SDS submissions must be in compliance with specific country General Motors TMC003 Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet guidance documents where available. 5.5 All materials supplied to this
23、standard must comply with the requirements of GMW3059, Restricted and Reportable Substances for Parts. 6 Approved Sources Materials supplied to this specification must be approved by General Motors. A list of approved materials can be found in MATSPC. This GM Material File is provided to third parti
24、es to reduce redundant testing of materials. If approved material already listed is used, the part supplier can use GM Material File reference for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) material approval. If the decision is made to use a not yet approved material, contact the involved GM Materials
