This standard covers the properties of a high density olefinic foam which isprocessed by combining an

2、 olefinic resin and a blowing agent. The olefinic resin can be either polyethylene orpolypropylene based.1.2 Symbols. The material abbreviations according to ISO 11469 are listed in Table 1.1.3 Typical Applications. Typical applications include the following: Bumper energy absorbers, knee bolsters.1

5、ivery of Plastics.3.1 Requirements on Test Specimens. Important physical and mechanical properties that characterize thematerial are summarized in Table 1.3.2 Chemical Requirements. All parts manufactured from molding compounds shall be resistant to the mediathey contact at their place of use.3.3 Re

These requirements shall be met in addition to therequirements in Table 1.3.4.1 All finished parts for Interior applications shall meet the requirements according to GMW14444.3.5 Requirements for Use on Exterior.

For Type 2 construction,the sample

10、specimen specified in “Dimensions” section according to ISO 844 is modified from a100 mm x 100 mm x 50 mm solid block to a cartridge style design 100 mm x 100 mm x 50 mm thickness anddivided into nine equal cells (matrix of 3 x 3), see Figure 1. The wall stock is drafted at 0.5 to simulateproduction

11、 intent. The internal radii of this cartridge should be half the nominal wall thickness, internal radius =0.5 x nominal wall; e.g. 4 mm nominal wall yields 2 mm internal radius. Also “Preparation” section of ISO 844 ismodified to include “test specimen shall be molded to maintain 100 % skin on the c

16、Legal Regulations. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendationsvalid in the country of usage.5.2 Language. In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shalltake precedence.5.3 Inspection and Rejection. Samples of comp

17、onents or materials released to a GM material specificationshall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this material specification and approved by theresponsible Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies.A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g

18、., properties, manufacturing process, location ofmanufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, all testing and documentation normally required for initial releasemust be completed.It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and toinclude doc

19、umentation of all modifications of materials and/or processes and to apply for a new release.If not otherwise agreed, all release tests shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior tocommencement of delivery of non-conforming bulk supplies. In individual cases, a shorter test can be agreed

20、to between the responsible Engineering department and the supplier.5.4 Material Safety Data Sheets/Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS). For new product submissions, or when achange in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material SafetyData Sheet/Safety Data She

21、et must be submitted in compliance with the Globally Harmonized System ofClassification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) requirements or other country-specific MSDS/SDSrequirements. In addition, product MSDS/SDS submissions must be in compliance with specific countryGeneral Motors TMC003 Material Saf

22、ety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet guidance documents where available.5.5 All materials supplied to this standard must comply with the requirements of GMW3059, Restricted andReportable Substances for Parts.6 Approved SourcesMaterials supplied to this specification must be approved by General Motors.A

23、list of approved materials can be found in MATSPC. This GM Material File is provided to third parties toreduce redundant testing of materials. If approved material already listed is used, the part supplier can use GMMaterial File reference for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) material approva

24、l. If the decision is madeto use a not yet approved material, contact GM Materials Engineering for details on the approval process.
