3、ion Cells Some retinal ganglion cells are photosensing (melanopsin-containing) and are believed to may have a role in entraining the circadian clock as well as other hormonally-mediated effects. 4、6.2 Visual Acuity A measure of the ability to distinguish fine details, usually measured with optotypesxi of different sizes when not constrained by contrast. Quantitatively, it is the reciprocal of the minimum angular size in minutes of arc of the critical detail of an object which can just be see
5、n resolved. (see 5.9.6.3 Resolving power) Section 5.9.12 Afterimage A visual response that occurs after the stimulus causing it has ceased. The effect is due to retinal photopigment regenerating from a bleach. Afterimages can fade quickly because they are stabilized on the retina (Troxler Effect), b
6、ut the reduction in sensitivity of the afterimage area continues until the photopigment is regenerated. (See 5.9.20 Troxler Effect) Section 5.9.20 Troxler Effect A fading of visual perception because of a stabilized retinal image.
