4、ge Notice: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This method covers a procedure to determine the stability of gasoline under accelerated oxidation conditions. 2.0 APPARTUS Oxidation bomb, glass sample container and cover, press
5、ure gage, oxidation bath, thermometer, 100 milliliter volumetric flask, balance with a sensitivity of 0.1 milligram, 1 milliliter pipette and accessories per ASTM D 525. 3.0 MATERIAL 3.1 Cupric acetate, Cu(C2H3O2).H2O, ACS. 3.2 Benzene, ACS 3.3 Glacial acetic acid, ACS. 3.4 Materials per ASTM D 525.
6、 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 Prepare a solution of cupric acetate in benzene as follows: Completely dissolve 65 milligrams of copper acetate in 16.25 grams of glacial acetic acid. Dilute to 100 milliters total volume with benzene. (This solution contains 0.20 milligrams of copper per 1.0 milliliter of solutio
7、n.) 4.2 Add 1.0 milliliter of the above solution to 50 + 1 milliliters of gasoline in the glass sample container. Then test in accordance with ASTM D 525. 5.0 REPORT Report the results as “induction period at 212 F (100 C)”.
