5、.2 Coors No. 1 porcelain crucible. 2.3 Muffle furnace capable of maintaining 1200 + 20F (650 + 10C). 2.4 Ashless filter circles, 15 centimeter. 2.5 Hammer or other heavy metal object. 3.0 PROCEDURE 3.1 Prepare coking bulb in accordance with ASTM D 524, section 5 (a), Test for Ramsbottom Carbon Resid
6、ue. 3.2 Place bulb in a preignited, Coors No. 1 porcelain crucible and weigh to the nearest 0.1 milligram. 3.3 Treat bulb in accordance with ASTM D524, Section 5 or 6. 3.4 Calculate carbon residue in accordance with ASTM D 524, section 7. 3.5 Wrap bulb and residue in an ashless 15 centimeter filter
7、circle, and break with the edge of a hammer or other heavy metal object, being careful not to lose any particles of glass or residue. 3.6 Place the wrapped broken bulb in the crucible. Ignite in a muffle furnace at 1200 + 20F(650 +10C) for one hour or until all carbonaceous residue is burned off. 3.
8、7 Cool and reweigh to the nearest 0.1 milligram. 4.0 REPORT Calculate the Ash of Ramsbottom Carbon Residue as follows: D-C 100W =Ash of Carbon Residue where: D = weight of bulb, crucible and ash of carbon residue C = Weight of empty bulb and crucible W = weight of sample used Report the values obtained as “Ash of Ramsbottom Carbon Residue, percent” or as “Ash of Ramsbottom Carbon Residue on 10 percent residuum, percent”.
