4、 Notice: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This is a method for evaluating the ability of a dry film of paint to resist marring. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 Navistar standard mar resistant panels available from Materials Engineering,
5、 Navistar, P. O. Box 1109, Fort Wayne, IN 46801-1109. 2.2 Recirculating oven capable of maintaining a temperature of 49 + 3C (120 + 5F) 3.0 MATERIAL Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panels, 100 x 150 mm (4 x 6 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, 273 Industri
6、al Drive, Hillsdale, Michigan 49242. 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 Prepare two Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated panels according to the procedure specified in Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation. 4.2 Age the prepared panels for 72 hours in a recirculating oven at 49 + 3C (120 + 5F), remove and
7、cool to 21 to 27C (70 to 80F). 4.3 Strike the painted surface of each of the panels four to five times with fingernails of one hand. 4.4 Using the unaided eye, compare the surface of each of the test panels to the approved International standard mar resistance panel. 5.0 REPORT Report whether the pa
8、int passes or fails this test. The paint will pass if each of the test panels exhibits a painted surface with mar resistance equal to or better than the approved Navistar standard mar resistance panel.
