、: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This is a method for evaluating the resistance of a dry paint film to large temperature changes. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 Recirculating oven capable of maintaining 66 + 3C (150 + 5F) 2.2 Freezer
、 capable of maintaining -32 + 3C (-25 + 5F) 2.3 Humidity cabinet capable of maintaining 100% relative humidity at 38C (100F) 3.0 MATERIAL Two Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panels, 100 x 150 mm (4 x 6 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, 273 Industrial Driv
、e, Hillsdale, Michigan 49242. 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 After prescribed baking, dry sand, solvent wipe and tack off. 4.2 To one panel, apply 38 to 51 m (1.5 to 2.0 mils) of paint, flash and bake at 121C (250F) for 30 minutes. To the second panel, apply 38 to 51 m (1.5 to 2.0 mils) of paint activated with 3
、% by volume of catalyst, flash and bake at 93C (200F) for 30 minutes. 4.3 Repeat Steps (1) and (2). Final thickness will be 132 to 142 m (5.2 to 5.6 mils) of topcoat material. This includes the original coat over primer. 4.4 Age panels at 60 + 3C (140 + 5F) for 72 hours and cool to 21 to 27C (70 to
、80F). 4.5 Expose panels to the following cycle of environment conditions: 4.5.1 38C (100F) and 100% relative humidity for 16 hours; 4.5.2 -32C (-25F) for 4 hours; 4.5.3 66C (150F) for 2 hours; 4.5.4 21 to 27C (70 to 80F) for 2 hours. 4.6 After eight complete cycles, examine panels. There will be no
