Reference: File 30-1 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers the method for determining the smoothness or orange peel of a painted surface. 2.0 SCOPE This specification describes the test method

5、 for orange peel-reflected light intensity measurement. 3.0 APPARATUS BYK Gardner Wave-Scan Plus, catalog number #GB4806. 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 Ensure that the painted surface to be measured is clean and free of oil and dirt. Measurements will be made on an area that is relatively flat. 4.2 Set Wave-Sca

6、n Plus to the Rating Scale (R). 4.3 Position the Wave-Scan Plus meter on the surface in an area that allows unobstructed horizontal movement for 6 inches. 4.4 Take three readings on trucks per areas such as hood, doors, sides, and back at random locations. 4.5 Take 3 readings on the test panels, mak

7、ing sure the instrument can travel the length of the panel without moving off the panel surface. 5.0 REPORT Report the Wave-Scan Plus (Rating) results.
