Type 302, Type 304, or Type
12、 321 stainless steel per CEMS A-37 may be used at the option of the manufacturer. 4.1.1 Optional Material: Applicable only to sizes below 4 inch O.D. Type 409 or Type 430 Stainless Steel per CEMS A-37. Exception: Pulling force for a 15% min extension shall be a maximum of 45 pounds (see Construction
13、 Requirement, Section 4.2). Also, refer to Section A.1 for prohibited use of 430 stainless steel when welding is required. When flex pipe is used in CGI lines, material must be 439 stainless steel or better (example: 300 series stainless steel). 4.2 Construction Hose shall be constructed of an inter
14、locked series of metal convolutions tightly wound about an axis so as to require a maximum pulling force of 35 pounds* to achieve an extension of 15% from the compressed length. Extension shall be 2.5 inches per foot minimum from the compressed position. Hose may be provided unpacked or packing with
15、 copper or stainless steel wire is permissible; asbestos packing shall not be used. End coils shall be tack-welded (both ends) after cutting to length (refer to Section A.1.1). Both ends shall have all burrs removed. * Note: There is a direct correlation between the minimum allowable pulling force t
16、o achieve a 15% extension and the maximum allowable leakage rate. The max allowable leakage rate constrains the minimum pulling force. 4.3 Leakage Rate Maximum leakage rate of hose in the one-half extended position shall be two standard cubic feet of air per minute per foot of hose at 4 psig. (Note:

If the flex pipe is installed in a bent condition, any further extension or compression may cause yielding of the coils within the bend. 26、15.5 4.9 Flow Direction Labeling The hose construction as an interlocked series of metal convolutions wound about an axis provides a preferential direction of gas flow through the hose/pipe as indicated in Figure 1. The flex hose shall be marked on the outside diameter of the hose to indicate the pr
27、eferred direction of flow. The method of marking and frequency of the markings shall be agreed upon between Engineering, the Quality Department of the receiving NAVISTAR Plant(s), and the supplier. Upon agreement, no changes in the marking procedure/process will be made without the prior approval of
28、 Engineering and the Plant Quality Department(s). An example of an approved marking is shown in Figure 2. NAVISTAR engineering assembly drawings should specify the flow direction when flex pipe is used in the assembly. JUNE 2008 Page 3 of 7 Copyright Navistar International Corporation Provided by IH

31、0.1 Weld Quality 4.10.1.1 Appearance The weld should be smooth and continuous all the way around the pipe. There cannot be start and stop points that create stress risers in the flex hose which could lead to premature failure. Also, the weld must follow the edge of the cut flex hose and should not c

In other words, the weld should be airtight at the pressure specified in Section 4.3. 4.
33、10.1.3 Engagement/Overlap For welded assemblies, the overlap of the flex hose to the pipe should be 19 mm. 4.10.1.4 Filler Metal Table XV in CEMS A-37 Appendix provides recommended filler metal for welding various combinations of stainless steel and low carbon steel. 4.11 Installation The flex hose
34、shall be installed in the truck exhaust system in such manner that the flow direction label on the hose is aligned with the direction of the exhaust gas flow. International will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an acc

Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6
43、.3 Process ControlThe supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all requ
